I know Odin is so called because they think he is a Scandinavian bird but I think it is highly unlikely as the migration route that they take is so far west of the British ospreys route.

Alan, I was surprised when they thought he might be a Scandinavian bird last year rather than a more local one. Thankfully, there are now that many nests in Scotland that ringers cannot possibly get round to them all during the ringing window coming up in a few weeks time. That means there are hundreds of youngsters that don't get ringed each year.
Now we know a little more about the route taken by Scandinavian birds, via the few that have been satellite tracked, it seems even less likely that he is not a more local bird.
However, as has been pointed out many times before, being unringed, we will simply never know for sure - his origins will always remain a mystery.
Meanwhile, all quiet on the nest and at least the weather forecast is quite good for the coming week.

Alan I'm wtih you. I could never deny that Odin could be Scandinavian, but, there are many many nests. which due to access and time limitations, make it impossible to ring chicks. The number of nests in Pethshire alone is astonishing but also throughout the country ie Speyside, Galloway the Borders etc.. Hence many Ospreys leave each year un-ringed. Richard would be the first to say his word is not Gospel he like the rest of us can only surmise.
A fish. Fantastic
