Daily Update (LG Nest) Friday 11th June

Hi everybody.

We've had an eventful day with Odin bringing in 5 fish and intruders trying to land on the nest but being chased off by EJ.

All is quiet on the nest except for fidgiting from the chicks who are keeping EJ awake. She has her back to us at present and is looking toward the right of the picture. One little one has just been obliging over the far end of the nest.

Happy watching, see you in the morning. night, night.

  • Fish number 7.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Another fish delivery

  • All standing in the usual order. The chicks raced to mum, as though they hadn't been fed today !!

  • The usual line-up for feeding ... in a very orderly manner

  • Such an orderly feed - almost polite, "no, no after you"! That's what a regular supply of fish does for harmony on the nest:

Thanks Cirrus and what a day for fish.  Have just logged in again for a while to see fish count now up to 7.  Loud cheers from me for Odin.  It sounds really windy at LG so he has done well.

Thanks to all for all the pics.  Hope you all enjoyed BigRab74 video, just magic wasn't it.

I could be wrong but looking at LOTL chicks and ours - LG's look bigger - does anyone else see a difference??

Just watched BigRab's compilation, fantastic, as others have said, will keep me going in the winter months.

All quiet on the nest - just waiting for a delivery.

Evening Lynette Lady's chicks are a little bigger but they hatched before EJ's I think.  another nest where fish have been plentiful and only 2 chicks so they are both getting well fed.

  • No doubt the amply fish supply is contributing to the harmony on the nest . There is no need to fight for food.

On the main blog BigRab has a very interesting observation on the civility on the nest this year.  He said last year there were 3 females, perhaps this year there is a mix of sexes.

I had two cats, a male & a female who were the best  buddies. Both died of old age. I got a male kitten and wanted to get a buddy for him. I spoke to my Vet about it. She said  two female cats will "rarely" get along. They are very territorial to protect their young .  Two males or a male & a female are a better choice.

  • Hi - just popped in after my visit to the hairdressers (she does it at home) and can see there has been yet more fish.  Wonderful how Odin has stepped up the fish delivery to keep all 5 of them fed.

Am interested to see what sexes the chicks are, too.   Wonder if they are all the same, females as last year, or mixed?  One thing we will have to be patient about, and wait and see.

Yes, margobird,  BigRab's videos are magic, that's a good word for it - he is so clever putting them together and taking the trouble to add all the music as well.

EJ sitting patiently waiting again - it does look like a lovely evening there today.
