The wind had died down, no rain, hurah, and EJ is getting some kip with the occasional wriggle from the chicks.

21/06/09 = 6 + 1 from EJ (her first last year)
between 22nd and 28th he brought in 51, averaging over 7 a day.
And here is the current scene with 3 very full chicks prostrate on the nest:
Thanks for the fish count for last year Sandy. He needs to catch another one today to equal last year's June 10.
Love the pic of 3 little osprey stuffed as usual and prostrate on the nest. Makes me smile when I see them all in a heap like this.

Tiger: I disagree that she had to go fishing. The fact that she felt able to leave the chicks at that stage long enough to catch a fish is a good sign. It doesn't necessarily follow that it was a lack of fish that prompted her to start fetching her own. As part of the blog you linked explains:
"So, when EJ was out of sight for a couple of hours yesterday lunchtime and then again in the evening... we had our suspicions as to what she might be up to! Our suspicions were correct, and EJ returned with a fish!
In 2008, when EJ went fishing, it was clear that Orange VS was not bringing in enough fish to sustain the brood and of those that he was bringing in, he was definitely eating more than his fair share.
In 2009, the chicks are looking amazing, Odin is bringing in an amazing amount of fish, plenty for three chicks, so why did EJ go fishing? I guess we'll never know, maybe she was just bored; she has, after all, been on or around the nest constantly since Odin arrived on 3 April! Maybe it has become learned, pre-emptive behaviour after what happened last year".
Back to the present and EJ is calling sporadically, chicks still flat out.

Is anybody else having trouble distinguishing between #1 and #2?
Chicks are awake , #1 having a go at Titch who has gone into submission pose. #1 and #2 were having a preen but have stopped.
I was watching that Lynette Titch knows exactly what do to keep out of trouble. Odin needs to bring another fish that would settle them down again. EJ just ignored it all.
