Hi all: Pesky cam is down again. Don't forget to check the last page of previous week's posts for a hallo from Caerann and somewhat worrisome news from Phoebe's nest.
Hot, hot here today. Now the wind is back up - chimes are chiming madly and motion sensor lights are coming on and off as the hanging plants sway in the wind. Nice tree man is coming next week; hope our Chinese Elm doesn't sustain any more damage in the meantime.
OG: Hoping to organize a similar video for my daughter's 50th (or rather, have my clever friend help me do one).
Alicat: Oh man; not good news about the hummers. Tried to watch the video, but more than 12,000 viewers were also on the site and the video kept freezing.
Diane: Fascinating about Zaca Station Road! Thanks - must've been a tiny railroad since the distance to Los Alamos is just about 9 miles..... I knew there were wineries up there though haven't visited them yet.
Really tired, so not staying around late tonight. Planning a lazy day at home tomorrow and Monday. Take care all.
Oh, yeah, Annette, we have central air conditioning. It would be unbearable without it. Can't imagine how my poor ancestors survived without AC. I'm not doing any kind of work outside at all. We always have this heat and humidity in July and August, but it's early this year. The car was sitting in the sun on Friday, and I actually burned my hand when I touched the car door.
I would put the car in the garage, but the nesting birds won't let me in there. LOL! Besides the Tufted Titmouse pair, we also have a pair of Eastern Kingbirds. They are nesting on a beam in the garage near the window. I think the window is ajar, and that's how they got in. They are very aggressive birds, and they will challenge crows and hawks. That's why they're called Kingbirds, because they think they are kings, even though they aren't that big. I admire their fearless spirit, but they are fierce little fellas. One of their alarm calls sounds like an electric fence. It's unnerving. You can hear it here: http://www.all-birds.com/Eastern-Kingbird.htm
So I have surrendered the garage to the birds for the summer. Next year, I'll have to do some work to make sure the birdies don't have access, I'm afraid.
I thought you were going to bed two hours ago Diane! :-) Well, now I know what an electric fence sounds like! Watch out for those Kingbirds - you could find one riding on your shoulder and pecking at your ears. I'm up later than usual for me, but have had a very productive but also relaxing day and am hoping for the same tomorrow. Off to bed now. Take care all.
Morning all & Happy Bank Holiday to those in UK. Dry here but cloudy, as forecast.
Don't have any more photo jokes, but here is a story from the newspaper:
While I was getting to know the neighbours after moving house, their four-year-old was running round the pool in the garden. "When will you be five?" I inquired. "When my next birthday comes" was the reply.
Morning all ... sunshine here, - very strange for a Bank Holiday - but it is breezy and cool.
Not planning on going anywhere today .... everywhere will be full of people!! Might do a bit of gardening ... and of course webcam watching.
Take care all

Diane I don't think I could cope with that sort of humidity,, would probably melt.
Better news about Hope today, she is coming for some special formula milk which is obviously doing her some good.
Still coughing bigtime, tho slept a bit last night. Doctor just phoned - unsatisfactory blood results last week - got to see a doctor this afternoon to listen to chest and probably get anti-biotics.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Afternoon original goldfinch you really are having a rough time. Hope the doctor can help you. Take care and look after yourselves.
Afternoon all,
Sorry you are feeling poorly OG . I hope you will be better soon.
Not doing a lot today. Went to Frosts garden centre at Brampton this morning and bought some plants for my hanging baskets. We then went to the Walled Garden Centre at Elton for a spot of lunch.
DjoanS : I always think it is best to stay at home on a Bank Holiday because of the traffic and crowds.
Just took the Thunderdog out for his walk and made up 1 hanging basket for the front of the house.
Weather is cloudy today but not as windy as yesterday. Temp 15.1c
Hi All.
Thought you might like a few lines I wrote last night:
"Three little humbugs with aviator goggles on
Jostling for position in their Mum's best dining room-
They're peeping out from under Mum
As raindrops fall down, one by one
Knowing soon their Dad will bring
More fish for supper, if we sing!"
