Hi all. Just starting this 'coz going out to birthday dinner with OH tonight (Indian - his choice). Back to catch up with last week's final posts later, (which included a great photo from OG's trip).
Weather changed for the afternoon, so no gardening – got various jobs done/started indoors – seems to be staying dry now. Birds carried on feeding regardless of rain – most seem to have young now, and Mrs Siskin stayed a long time – managed to lie low in the seed catcher dish whenever the starling hordes were causing aggro! HeatherB - agree with what you say about regular calls – fine until the times they can’t happen for what is often just a minor reason. I always give similar advice to people visiting the aged/infirm – don’t set a regular day, then it doesn’t cause worry if you can’t get there! Your gardening co-operation with neighbour sounds wonderful – she is getting company, and if she thinks she is helping you, that will be very helpful to her. Alan – all our veg are in raised beds and do well – better for drainage but need more watering if we get dry weather (what’s that?). Have some potatoes in growing thingies and some in ground – seemed about equal last year. Got four growing thingies this year, and first spuds are now out of the top of the bag! Beautiful paeony picture. Lindybird – chaos at our Tesco. For the second time this week, their chillers failed – so no dairy etc – and they are not even allowed to give it away. Somerfield/Co-op in town is rubbing its hands with glee. Pleased you have found suitable frames for your pictures – I think your whatjacallits are mounts? Annette – I hope Steve stays to rest a good few days in Atlanta – I wish he wasn’t sleeping in the truck – but maybe he’d find it hard to sleep in a real quiet bedroom! So next weekend will be a big gathering and big celebration for all your family – good that G.Dau will be there so near G.Son’s birthday. For Dau#1’s 40th last year, SiL collected photos from birth, school, Girl Guides etc and scanned them in to make a slide show with modern ones too, and had it running during her party. Caerann – good to “hear” from you after another busy working week! Enjoy your weekend in the garden.
Well, time for a little something again! Going to share a hot cross bun for supper – I know it’s nearly June, but they are nice and spicy! Good night, all.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

Lindybird - A good thing I'm not visiting Cranford fair - you wouldn't get a look-in at the bookshop. LOL
Annette - Thanks for the extra field/paddock info. I find this blog is stretching my brain, making me think about things. When we read books or see films about other countries, I wonder how much we misunderstand because we apply our local knowledge & local language, unaware of differences. re money, I just remembered how my Mum would toos all coins in the bottom of her handbag. Then when she met a grandchild she would handover a handfull of coins. Luck whether they got large or small. LOL
Oh dear, news report that latest procedure to stop oil flow has failed. Mankind does manage to do so much damage to our planet.

Annette: According to this site: Zaca Station was "a stop on the old narrow-gauge Pacific Coast Railway. From the station, which gave the road its name, locomotives began their sweeping runs up the Purisima Hills to Los Alamos." http://www.lompocrecord.com/news/local/article_74c67874-5a4c-5c79-aead-7c899a3fdc5e.html
