Hi all. Just starting this 'coz going out to birthday dinner with OH tonight (Indian - his choice). Back to catch up with last week's final posts later, (which included a great photo from OG's trip).
Oh! what a beautiful place, OG - and thanks for the picture: as you say, you need to see the scale to appreciate it all the more.
Have done a few lines for EJ, inspired by seeing the chicks feeding so well:
Three little bobbleheads sitting in a row
One says "stay" and one says "go"
One in the middle says "Me, me! too!"
"Watch out for me, I'm coming on through."
---------------
EJ looks down at three little mops
She keeps on feeding and her work never stops -
One day, late summer they will all be grown
From this handcrafted nest they all will have flown.
Leaving the mosses, both yellow and red
Leaving EJ - with what thoughts in her head?
Of long sunny days, feeding three open beaks
Her devotion to Motherhood silently speaks.
Hello Diane thanks for the update on Trucker Steve. Lucky a friend got him in the hospital emergency room, he must have been feeling so ill. Shame about TK but I am sure he will have been found a home. Hope your exceptionally stormy weather will move away soon.
Margobird
Morning all,
OG : Thanks for the pic of Ballindalloch castle and gardens. Sorry you feel unwell and hope your trip to Edinburgh goes ok.
Everyone else thanks for overnight chat , clips etc.
4 more webcams to watch on Springwatch. When will we find the time SueC.
Weather is sunny but cool again. Temp 11.9c.
As it is a day for castles. Here is a pic of Penrhyn castle in North Wales:
Good morning original goldfinch so sorry that you are both feeling so unwell and have to cancel part of your holiday. I do hope you can get a refund because you have obviously been misinformed about the shower. Hopefully you will get to Edinburgh nest week. A lovely city I had a holiday there about 30 years ago and wonder why I have never been again. Take care both of you and wishing a full return to health soon.
Lindybird I keep looking at the Lily and Hope story and still can't do it without crying, such a happy ending but just so touching.
Another lovely poem Lindybird. I have saved with all the others to look at during the long winter months along with videos etc.
Glad you liked it, Margobird. (I notice that you have posted just now on yesterdays Daily Thread, don't get mixed up..!)
Thanks Lindybird, I am easily mixed up must be old age. That happened because I was catching up, that's my excuse anyway.
It's easily done, there are so many threads now and goodness knows, I never seem to know what day it is today, myself.
Have just been invited to go shopping with a Friend this afternoon, so can't resist - hope someone is on here to keep track of events.
Lindybird – lovely poem for EJ. I know that what she does is instinctive, but she does seem to be particularly good at it! Alan – thanks for picture of Castle in Wales – so solidly …um … Welsh – when compared with Scottish Baronial. Margobird – luckily, we do not have to encounter Edinburgh city centre when we go to Gardening Scotland next week. The event is at the Highland Showground, which is next to Edinburgh International Airport, and we are booked in at the hotel right next door to the showground. We have bought a special charity show ticket to include lunch at the same hotel – which should also stop us grazing at the various food vans during the day!
Which reminds me, it’s time to think about some lunch!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
