Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Afternoon all. I'm feeling a bit guilty - have got the week off and have jobs I'm supposed to be doing but have spent most of the day watching the most uplifting scenes at LOTL. I still can't get my head round what we have witnessed - what magnificent birds.
Also, have relatives in Canada who have been following events - email and the phone have been much in use - and judging by the comments on the LOTL blog the unfolding drama has gone global

Lady still feeding her chicks.Glorious sight.

Afternoon Lofty don't feel guilty, jobs can wait. I have spent hours watching the miracle at LOtL and such heartwarming scenes. Lady has just fed both chicks and herself and looks more alert than she did yesterday. Lady is a truly amazing osprey and as you say people from all over the world have watched and waited. Terribly sad over the weekend but when she started to improve yesterday there was hope and she is still there doing what she knows she has to do for those chicks, who at the moment are absolutely stuffed from the last feed.
Margobird
It's hidden in a reply to a reply, but Fiona says LotL will not be sat tagging these chicks. Sadly that means we shall not have future knowledge of any of Marge's offspring (unless rings are spotted or later retrieved) because she also said in the latest update that it is unlikely we shall see Marge here again even if she sees out this season. They are sharing a fish at the moment.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
By the way folks, Fiona has done an update on the SWT site.

OG, I'm not surprised they've decided that, given the events of the last few days and the still-uncertain situation. I guess that means they probably won't ring them either, as one of the issues would be the risks of sending someone up to the nest. It would have to be done in the next 2 weeks or so, as the chicks are a similar age to LG's.
Looking at the closeup now, Lady is a lot more confident on her feeding of the chicks. Well to me it looks like she is.
I agree Lynette but that fish was so large and possibly she is a bit slower but they have all been well fed. She is putting the fish into their beaks today instead of them grabbing if from her.
Thanks for the updates, everyone. I thought this morning that Lady was being more precise with her feeding.
Back on after sorting dinner out and Lady is still feeding the chicks. It must have been a whopper.
