Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
I have to go too. Well time will tell what will it be

Have just looked too - she's been moving, and got up briefly, but her posture doesn't seem natural to me either. How sad.
I'm sure SWT will be watching and assessing the situation - like LG, they have a 24-hour watch. Remember, they would need to get official permission before approaching the nest, if it's their view that the situation calls for it.
Can I suggest to others, it would be better not to send further requests to SWT to do something, which would be an unwanted distraction while they are trying to handle the crisis.
This is such a sad sight - poor Marge struggles to lift her head occasionally and the chicks are out in the rain and looking bewildered. There is such a strong wind blowing too - don't think the male is likely to catch much in this, and anyway, would he feed the chicks, or could they maybe learn to feed themselves early (like the Kestrels on Springwatch)? So many questions - if this is the end for Marge, maybe supplementary feeding in the wild would be a solution - like the Bear Centre augmenting Hope's food.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
She tried to lift herself again at 8:30.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
She has freed herself and has moved to the side of the nest, with great difficulty.
She stood with outstretched wings, but her head still hanging on her chest. She staggered forward a bit then fell on top of the chicks, wings still spread and head right down. Her wings have now dropped completely and the wind is ruffling her neck feathers - no other movement perceptible.
Just looking at the nest now, Lady was on the nest and tryiing to step over the twigs, I looked away and she was gone, maybe she's up on the perch or gone for a flyabout, chicks seem to be home alone.

Her she is at 9am still trying to protect them.
Her chicks are sheltering beneath her wings but the Laird has taken the fish off the nest. This sadly is so heart wrenching to see.
One of the chicks is preening and the other one looks to have its wings spreadeagled or is it part of the nest, strange. Hang on, I thinki its the large branches, silly me. the other chick is still asleep in the cup of the nest.
