Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
SANDRA let me add my thanks for all your work on this thread - I always log on here to get your early morning reports before I go out.
So sad to see Lady go but it is great she felt fit enough to follow her instincts - and we still have her offspring and the Laird to watch, albeit only for a couple of weeks or so.
Here's a clip of the two youngsters on the nest yesterday afternoon (it's three clips spliced together)

Good article here on her departure

Chick 2.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)

Lofty thanks for putting the above on for us all to share. Seems strange without our beautiful Lady but we do have the Laird and two healthy chicks to watch for a while longer. The LOTL webcam was where I first saw and osprey so have been an avid viewer for three years, pity I didn't discover ospreys earlier. Such majestic wonderful birds and it has greatly improved my life learning as much as I can about them.
Margobird
Hi Margo.
My tears have started again too after reading some of the comments on the LOTL blog :-(
Hi Lofty.
Thank you for your kind words to me. It has really been a great pleasure to me for capturing pics of these wonderful birds for you all to share :-)
One for the album, chick 2
Good gosh. Terrible weather in Scotland!
3:25 chick2.
Unknown said: Thanks Lynette for Nick's lovely poem about the Lady. It reminds me of a piece of music I was listening to recently, by Dougie Maclean, a Scottish fiddler who grew up in Dunkeld. It's called simply 'The Osprey', and is on his album "Dougie Maclean Fiddle" from 1984: http://www.dougiemaclean.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49:fiddle&catid=44:recordings&Itemid=80 It's a very atmospheric and poignant piece. I love the way it fades out at the end, as though the osprey is soaring high and flying away into the distance..... You can buy the music on his website, either the whole album or purchase an individual track. I think the album is also on Amazon with a preview feature for each track. I was wondering if Dougie might consider 'donating' the music by putting it in the public domain on the SWT website as a tribute to Lady.
