Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.

Should think they will be ready to leave soon but they may be waiting for the weather to improve before they do so. Wet and horrible in West today and last evening so I hope the parents have been able to drop food for them.

I think they are hunting for themselves now, just looked in and no sign of them in the box or in the barn

Note the very clever title. “NESTALGIA” THE Loch, THE tree, The empty nestThe memories of what’s beenA myriad of imagesOf all that we have seen The meeting, and the courtshipFor Lady and her new boyWho, tho’ he started haplessly,Went on to bring such joy Two brand new chicks they hatched here(Alas there was no third)The perfect start to family lifeFor our Lady and her Laird A near fatal illness,Our dear Lady in such strifeThen a sip of magic waterThat restored her precious life Two wonderful new ospreysMore “new kids on the block”Have secured our Lady’s legacyAt this mystic, magic, Loch And now the nest lies empty,Dishevelled, and forlorn,But this story doesn’t end hereSo let not your hearts be torn For our Lady’s spirit lingersIt’s tangible, and clearAnd she’s whispered in the treetopsThat she’ll be back again next year

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Good afternoon Lofty it would be so nice to see them again but I missed the Laird yesterday so perhaps we will catch a glimpse of all of them before they leave. Always feel so sad at the end of the osprey season, they have taken up a big part of my life especially this year when Lady was so ill.
Just looking at the cam now but not s sight of anything at the moment. You are so right about Rinchen's diaries. They are magical and wonderfully thought provoking. Here is a man who has given himself to nature and it is just wonderful how he writes.
Margobird
Oh my. third night in a row where I can't get the cam - tonight it says "connecting to media" but doesn't. Apparently the folks on the main blog can't get it either. No idea what's going on......
Hi everyone. Thanks for all the updates and pics. Obviously gone quiet here since the LotL birds have not been around as much, and with the web cams being down.Anyway here's a pic from my visit the LotL in July.
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Good morning Heron 77 and thanks for the pic of LOtL in July. That seems a long time ago now. Reading the diary today it looks as though the Laird may have gone now so hope those youngsters will successfuly fish for themselves now they are alone.
That was a bright, sunny photo Heron. Thanks!
Not been on for a few days as its been so quiet at LOTL. Just looked at the official blog and they virtually confirm that the chicks have left on their migration.
What a remarkable family they were - God speed and a safe journey to them all. I bet they'll be glad to get to sunnier climes after the funny summer up there this year.
=== I've not been on here for a while - busy at home & work...
Thanks to margobird for the poem by Nick - wonderful, it just captures the season beautifully. And thanks to All who have posted their pics of LotL on here all summer, for those of us unable to keep up with events 'live', we do appreciate your efforts to keep everyone in the picture.
Good Luck to the two osprey youngsters, have a Good Life - safe journey to the warmth of the sun.
Hello all.
We have an Adult male Osprey this afternoon.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
