Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Hi Brenda,
I read that earlier too. He would soon be off if the young has left :-(
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Hi Sandra I did manage to see the Laird sitting in the tree but thanks for the pic. These sights are going to be very rare now so every moment with them is precious.
Margobird
Good evening Lofty I think we are all clutching at the same straws, wanting to see an osprey. I did see the Laird this afternoon sitting in a tree and there is apparently still one youngster around. You are right the nest does look desolate, what a lot happened there in the past few months.
I wouldn't want to post this too prematurely but it is looking increasingly likely that both juveniles have left Loch of the Lowes. Annette posted the last positive sighting of a youngster at 7:08 am yesterday, 15th August (SWT blog concurs).
Unless the Laird is providing them with fish somewhere other than the nest, which is fairly unlikely, then the absence of the two chicks from the nest area food begging would suggest they are no longer in the vicinity.
Sandy, thanks for your post.
If the chick have left, I really don't think Laird would have stayed around most of the day :-)
Oh dear. Sorry folks, but cannot stay on tonight. Wiped out and have lots of driving tomorrow so off to bed. Will look forward to reading posts before I whiz out in morning.... Take care all.
Thanks Annette and good morning all.
Empty nest and I am feeling really sad and down :-(
A big hug to you, Sandra. It's a dreadful day at LG but looks a liitle better here. If dreich.
When (as I thought) EJ left the nest and flew off so purposefully on her migration, yesterday, the biggest lump rose in my throat . Let's hope The Laird is spotted somewhere in the vicinity of Lowes.
Two healthy and truly beautiful juveniles to grace our world. We are so fortuante to have witnessed their hatching and fledging. I wish them a safe flight when they go.
Thanks Cirrus and hugs back to you!
My eyes are full of tears everytime I sit here waiting and hoping that I will see one of our chicks.
I have to go now and get ready to go to Port Talbot market this morning.
Bye Cirrus :-)
Trust you find everything you want at the market Sandra.
