Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Hi Lynette and yes a big, big sigh from me too. Life will be a bit empty without our ospreys. One of the team at LOTL was going to walk round the Loch to see if they could catch sight of any of them but I think they may have started their journey already. Wishing them a safe and successful migration if they have left.

They filled the nest, our ospreys fourHow could they know what was in store? The chicks grew fast and flapped aboutCalling for food with ear-piercing shoutsLaird fished until they’d had their fillThen a terrible thing happened, Lady took illWe couldn’t eat, we couldn’t sleepShe lay so still with hardly a peepAnd then, as if launching from a ledgeShe glided down to the water’s edgeIt’s amazing to see our family thriveWe watch every day from home or hideNature’s brilliance is clearAs their leaving time nearsSuch wonder we’ve seenThrough laughter and tearsOur ospreys will fly to warmer climesThey’ll be forever in our mindsIt’s truly nature at its bestAnd we’ll be leftBereft
This was written by Nancy on the main SWT blog earlier in the season but she has posted it today - quite a nice poem.

Lynette Nancy's poem was lovely and we have empty nests at both sites now. Still no mention of anyone seeing an osprey so I am thinking perhaps they are on their way, leaving us with our memories.
Have popped onto the camera through the day and seen................ an empty nest, UNTIL 4.25 pm and the camera zoomed onto the Laird in the trees in the distance - so there is still an Osprey presence (clutching at straws I know but that empty nest looks so desolate)
regards
Not sure who it is.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Wow, Sandra - my heart just lifted at the sight of this Osprey !! I believe EJ took her leave of us earlier and I have not SEEN any youngsters and Odin may well have gone too - so when the thread opened on your pic , well, ... it was a joy.
Nancy's poem is lovely Lynette - thank you for copying and pasting it.
Very quiet and not a bird in sight..........................sigh.
There is an update on the blog which says that it is the Laird who was seen in the tree and fishing, They also say that there must be at least one chick still around or he would have left.
Hi everyone.
Cirrus. Has LG said that EJ has left??? I have been watching both nests since 4:30 and only one Osprey so far. I think we are all going to feel very depressed over the next few day's :-(
