Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
Just looked in before I go out,. Sunlight on the loch and an empty nest

Good morning Annettte, Sandra, Lynette and Lofty. My first look since yesterday morning when I posted briefly. Had said I felt better but within an hour was back in bed not able to keep food or water down and stopped that way until early this morning. Thanks for all the pics and observations. Have jsut read the diary and they say they have seen the two chicks together at any one time so are wondering if the eldest has set off on migration but saying that it would be a bit early if it has. Maybe it is catching its own fish now and that is why the youngest seems to be getting well fed now. Thanks for putting the link to that wonderful montage of Lady with music. Cried my eyes out at the wonderful pictures of a very beatiful and precious Lady. Loch looks so calm this morning but no sight of any ospreys since I logged in. It all sees so quiet now feeling quite sad the season is nearly over. All we can hope is that Lady, the Laird and the two youngsters reach their migration site safely. Lady especially is never far from my mind.

Looking in again and still nest is empty. They must be out and about, perhaps fishing for themselves!!!
A very quiet day - no sightings of any of the family so far for me.
Must say the Loch has looked beautiful today, from early on when it was shrouded with mist to now when it looks so calm.
Margobird re your comments re migration I did think I heard two birds calling this morning but reading the SWT blog it seems if they replay older material in the centre it comes over the internet. Sad, but it looks like the season is coming to a close, but a successful close, two more ospreys to add to the population is a result that we could not even have hoped for earlier when Lady took ill.
Here's to a successful migration for them all, and a safe return.
regards
An osprey! - possibly Laird in the far trees:
Looking in again and all is quiet. Cam is showing view of the loch. Looks like Laird Sandy.
Afternoon Lofty and as you say the season is coming to an end and it is sad but we have to remember it could have been such a different story if Lady had not recovered. Thanks to Lady and the Laird we have two extremely healthy ospreys and I wish them a successful migration and safe return to grace our shores once more. The Laird has been spotted in a tree on the other side of the Loch but I have not seen either youngster although I have not been looking in much today. It looks glorious there today with those lovely views across the Loch a bit different to a few days ago when it was rather wet.
From the SWT blog I believe this is the Laird perched across from the nest this afternoon. (I couldn't tell from the distance)

Nothing spectacular but nice just to see one of them today - no sign of the youngsters. Looks beautiful up there today.
Thanks for pix and posts. Haven't looked at that video since I don't want to boohoo! Off to start day. Take care all.
See you Annette, have a happy day. All quiet on the "western front"
