Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
well I think everyone going to bed tonight with lighter hearts the chicks are well fed again and Madge seems a livier. We'll just have to see what tomorrow brings

How right you are Soosin Lady is definitely rewriting it herself for now.

Gosh ! I must just pop in to say having been so sad at her condition over the weekend it is just amazing to see her up and feeding the chicks! What a Lady, she is such a fighter.
Hoping for the best, but realising that she is an old lady now......
Unknown said: Thanks, Lynette. Yes I have been watching and I commented at 9:09pm, when the feed was happening. My worry now is that if this is a temporary “reprieve” the male is going to get even more confused, but as time is passing, the chicks are gradually more able to feed themselves, so as long as he continues fishing for them all should be well with the two of them. I am also concerned about the dud egg sitting there – don’t know much about eggs, but won’t it explode in the summer heat? (I hope not!!!)

At present Lady is perched on a large branch in the nest and its as though she wants to rest and her head keeps drooping and then she shrugs herself awake again. Chicks are now settled.

It has been an amazing day Lindybird and I am still finding it hard to comprehend. Some sort of miracle has happened here and we have been honoured to watch it. I will never forget the past few days and whatever happens now we know she really fought for survival. So pleased that she has eaten and had a drink. Going to log off soon so goodnight all and thanks for the commentary all the way through the evening when I could not get to have a look.
It looks like Laird has brought in another fish and has just taken off.again. Lady/Marg begins to feed the youngsters.
Lady is feeding the chicks again and also eating some of the fish
Formerly known as Barbara Jean
Yes, smaller chick asked the male for food, but Marge finally managed to take the fish from him and is mostly feeding herself and the bigger one.
EDIT: she is now feeding both.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hope that now she has had not only a good drink, but also some fish, she will rest tonight and revive herself tomorrow after her ordeal. My belief has been that she had a fever or virus or flu like thing, which left her totally exhausted. However, she is a tough one, and now may recover - I know that it is only may recover, as I am a realist, having seen too much illness and suffering in human ways over the years.
Goodnight All.
