Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
The chicks have now moved to the side of Lady and she has just stirred a little.

Showing a real closeup of Lady and her breathing seems laboured. Its panned out again. I'm sure the chicks realise something is amiss, one seems to be looking at her as if to say "what's up mum"
Just watching a few moments ago and Lady rallied a little, lifting her head and doing a lot of gulping movements, can anyone enlighten me why she does this, its as though she thrusts her head forward and then seems to keep gulping in air. Did anyone witness it and whats it all about??
Lady lifted her head and both chickes snuggled next to her. If the worst happens she is in the nest she calls home surounded by her chicks and mate . At least she is not all alone in her winter home . But it is So Sad!!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Chicks seem to be either side of Lady/Marg. Looking at the LOTL blog, one person asked if it could be a stroke and was answered with the possibility that it might be, or heart problems. She is doing that gulping movement again and then flaking out. She is after all a grand old lady and has done a marvellous job over the years.
She appears to have her head up now but breathing still seems laboured.
It is taking so long - I wish we could just tell her it is ok to go.
Lady has just tried her best to stand up but has now flopped down again after the effort. She is trying so hard, bless her, to rally.
Laird is back on the nest with a fish, he has started eating and the chicks are showing an interest too, or maybe not. Lady just lying there.
