Looking at the site at Rutland Water. Female having a turn of the eggs and now settling down again. Lovely and calm there as it is here in Northants.
Would be nice to do a diary for the MantonBay (Rutland) as update on other nests now takes ages to get to the end and update.
Do they have names for these two at MantonBay. Please note I have changed the name to Manton Bay (Rutland) nest updates as a suggestion from Sandy. Hope this meets with everyones approval.

Interesting news that 30 (05) is paired off with 08 (01) who is of course her uncle. So is the Scottish female DE (05) or not?
Hi Tiger,
According to the Rutland Reserve Blog of 2008 "DE fledged from a nest in the Tweed valley in the Scottish borders in 2005. She first arrived in Rutland in June 2007......"
I initially thought the same as you about DE(05) but it looks unlikely. I was wondering if AA(06) has taken over from 06(00) as this females partner after his disappearance.
Was 08(01) from the same nest as 03(97) do we know if both parents were the same?
Vespa Crabo I do know that 05 (00), 08 (01) and the famous SSK are all from the same nest in consecutive years but I will have to look into it a bit more closely of remind myself of the exact position.
I think you will find the answers you want on this link. See SSK
Yes 05 (00), 08 (01) and SSK all from the same nest in consecutive years. Three very strong ospreys.
05 (00) is the mum of 30 (05)

Thanks Tiger,
Teach me for trying to find the link with the father when I should having been looking at 05(00)!!!!

Indeed. Mind you old 3 (97) has got his genes into all five nests.
Fascinating, the parents of 06(00)/08(01) have their genes in every nest this year except 03(97)’s & 03(97) has his genes in every fledged Osprey at Rutland with the probable exception of the young fledged at last years nest that AA(06) took over (06(00) & Argyll female???)) A small gene pool were it not for the Scottish females.
Vespa Crabo Surely you mean 05 (00)/08 (01) rather than 06 (00)/08 (01) ?
Not so sure about ever fledged osprey at Rutland?
How about these two chicks? See 22 (03) and 11 (03) in 2003.
Just found an interesting link about Rutland. See here.
08 (01) was written off for dead when it returned in 2006. Even more remarkable was how it had escaped death. See lucky escape.
Your right!! I forgot about the one year they bred, unfortunatly I'm not sure we'll see the young again to spread their genes though.
The link was a booklet they were handing out when we visited a couple of years ago. When we were talking to the volunteers in the Shallow hide they also had a list of Darvic rings that they were looking for on birds that had fledged 2 & 3 years previously. It would be interesting to see that list for the 2009 & 2010 birds!!
Interestingly 09 (00), 8 (97), 01 (99) and 06 (01) all came from the same. nest. Once again three remarkably successful ospreys even though 8 (97) had to wait while 05 (00) and 3 (97) built him a mate.
01 (99) was the one that went back to Piper dam in Scotland and paired up with an osprey that had a few toes missing. They were successful for a number of years before 01 (99) failed to return. Her mate later failed to return and now I understand that there are no ospreys at Piper Dam.
I cannot help wondering where one of my all time fav ospreys is. That is where is red rover 02 (01).
I love these audios about him. Listen here.

Thanks Sandy. You cant really blame them this week. Apparently there were some waxwings near Lagoon1 today. I dont suppose you saw any? There have been a lot around the Peterborough area today. At Ferry Meadows,Bretton,Orton Brimbles and Lynch Wood Business Park. I still havent seen any.
