Hi to all those who watch during the night. EJ seems settled and appears to be dozing off. All as it should be. Only one fish delivered again yesterday but it was big!!!!!!!!!! Odin brought it in whole, EJ went off with it and came back after having her share and presented Odin with the rest. Lovely.
Night, night till the morning.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
JSB/ANNETTE asked about this at LG last year and yes it is the long daylight hours which give them plenty of good fishing time that is the key for their migration from the warmer climes with less fishing hours. No one seems to have told Odin this yet but no doubt he will buck his ideas up when the chicks arrive. You wil be glad to know the weather is much more pleasant here today

That's nice to know dibnib and only about 40 mins away, lucky you. I'm sure he will deliver more when the chicks arrive, he did last year. Second fish has been delivered today.
The stills camera had missed it. Odin had taken the head. The fish body seemed fatter but not long, maybe Odin had eaten a bit more than just the head.
Morning all:
jsb: Thanks for such detailed info regarding the rationale behind the migration. Also Sue C and dibnlib for additional info. Longer fishing hours does make sense. Yes, I've noticed the reptilian phase. Reminded me of a bumper sticker I saw yesterday: "And which day did God create fossils?" :-)
i missed it 2 fish today great, maybe time for another before it gets to late to fish

Great news that there have been 2 fish. Thanks for posts and pics, also thanks to Alan for great video clip of the first fish. EJ sitting happily now (full stomach no doubt!)
EDIT: whoops, I'm sure now that its Odin I'm seeing, so EJ is not back from the feast yet.
EJ is back again, and has to chunter to Odin for a few minutes before he suddenly gives in & departs. Pic of them together:

Just listening to the beautiful bird songs around the nest and that made me wonder how many different species of birds that EJ and Odin must see and hear on their journey to and from Africa. Our garden seems to have gone very quiet this afternoon.
