Weekly Chat, Sunday May 9, 2010

Morning/evening all:  Lovely day here.  Sunny, warm, cactii are beginning to bloom.  Will be keeping one eye on the volcano and the other on EJ while doing other things tonight (hmmm...). Should be interesting.  Lots of chat about the volcano on the last page of the previous week.  Off to start dinner; back later!

  • Evening all,

Just making last preparations for going on hol tomorrow.

Thanks to all who wished us a good holiday. Not taking laptop so this will be my last post for a week or so.

In the meantime keep up the good work everyone, probably take me another week to catch up when I get back.

Here is an unusual story of owls and ducklings:

  • ALAN    saw the owl/duckling story briefly on the beeb this am but thanks to your link I now know a bit more Hope you enjoy your hols

  • Thanks, all who wished Tweed and me luck.  Unfortunately, it wasn't our (well, my) kind of course and we didn't get anywhere.  It's very stressful for Tweed as he has to go through crowds and I try to prevent him eating the chips, burgers etc which people have dropped.  It's good to be there, though, and he was much admired.

Alan Hope you have a wonderful holiday in Wales.  I'm ssure there will be lots of wildlife - and, more importantly, lots of lovely walks for Hamish.

To all who are feeling ill - get well soon.

Dibnlib Glad you enjoyed your evening and didn't sneeze too much.

  • Have a great holiday Alan - hope the weather is kind.  We in the Northwest saw the owl and duckling story on the NW News yesterday, but I didn't know if it was on the internet.  Nature is amazing.

Sorry Tweed didn't like the crowds, patriciat. but expect you both enjoyed your day. Expect he had a lot of pats from dog lovers.

See from the internet news pages that the Atlantis took off successfully, Godspeed to all the six brave men (& women?) on board.  When the last shuttle goes later this year it will be the end of an era which has been huge in the way of strides in space exploration.  I felt proud and humbled to have seen it from the very beginning, with the first space flights all those years ago - how we had our hearts in our mouths when those early rockets took off. History in the making, all right.

Annette:   What a good idea for the tree project to help people and the community in several ways at once - why can't those sorts of things happen more often??  I get cross when they say that they can't put minor transgressors into prison because they are full already - they should be doing things for the community in order to learn how to make things better for society instead of sitting in cells waiting to be let out again, anyway.   Sorry, rant over.    Saw Pres. Obama on TV news tonight being assertive about sorting out the oil spill problem, lets hope that something can be salvaged, literally, from this mess.

A good day at LG with 3 fish again.  We will  have good news for those already away on their holidays.

  • Patriciat: I don't like crowds either, so understand how Tweed feels. I also get distracted by French fries, etc.

Lindybird:  Yes, maybe Odin is gearing up, fish-wise, for the arrival of the chicks. Honing his skills.

Had nice lunch with friend, then spent relaxing couple of hours playing in the roses and chatting to visitors. Stopped on the way home to get strawberries from local farm and now OH has gone off to our favorite local take-out place to get some yummy salads.   Heard Prez talking tough to oil folks today; no doubt will see that on our evening news, along with video of Space Shuttle, which I missed.  Tomorrow it's finish up the painting. Hurray!

  • Certainly is odd to see blue sky over the volcano at 2:30 in the morning (their time)

  • Good grief:  Radio Cuckoo is already broadcasting at LG!

  • Pages have been really slow to load this evening.  You click and wait and nothing happens, over and over, then all of a sudden you click and here you are!   Hope we don't have problems tomorrow!

  • Has the site gone mad? Lindybird's post has now shown up twice with my comments in between?  All very odd.  Site very slow to load. Am off to bed now anyway; hope it speeds up for everyone tomorrow.
