Morning/evening all: Lovely day here. Sunny, warm, cactii are beginning to bloom. Will be keeping one eye on the volcano and the other on EJ while doing other things tonight (hmmm...). Should be interesting. Lots of chat about the volcano on the last page of the previous week. Off to start dinner; back later!
There has been a hatch at Vauxhall, London peregrines. Not sure if 1 or 2 chicks.

Hello Everyone. Husband and I have just been out for a celebratory 'naughty cake' and coffee at our favourite Garden Centre Cafe, as we have had some Important News. I know that all of you will be very happy for us, as you are a lovely crowd: we are to be Grandparents! Our son & wife are to be parents in November, which will be a first grandchild for both of us, and also for our dtr.in-laws parents. We are all very excited. Our dtr.in-law went for her first scan today and we are promised a copy of the picture later today. Our son is so delighted, he can't wait to tell all his friends now & of course I have been busy telling just about everyone I meet. Will try not to bore you all with too many details over the coming months!
Lindybird what great news I am so happy for you and OH. What an exciting year it is going to be for you.
Margobird
Thanks margobird. We are 'over the moon' and full of plans for the new addition to the family.
Brilliant news Linda. Very best wishes to your son and his wife.
Lindybird - what wonderful news ... I am so pleased for all concerned!
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

PATRICIAT so sorry to hear the news of your sisters lab. Glad they have another 'cos although it will not take away the pain we have always found that when one has gone it is a real comfort to still have another to love and come home to.
ANNETTE thank you for the pics of the cactus, quite stunning. Also like the sound of your brunch, raspberry and coffee cake sounds interesting. Glad your painting is progressing, OH is doing well with our railings (in between rain and hail showers) and is now more than 1/2 way done. Next garden job is to cement the whirly gig in, at the mo it is just dug into the soil and it really needs to be fixed more firmly.
JSB Great pics of the volcano, tried to get onto the site a couple of days ago with no success. Have now lost the link, cananyone help please.
Morning all and Hurray for Lindybird's good news!! I tell you, the years fall away once you have grandkids. You really do rediscover the world through their eyes. Thanks also for cat cartoon; similar to those Trucker Steve has on his blog.
Djoan: That large bloom is an easy 5 inches across - looks much pinker this morning...
OG: Oh dear, I've missed something. You're going away too? I know Margobird is off to Venice...
Can't access the volcano cam this morning (too busy?) and the wind is blowing again so probably won't be counting whales today either. The ocean was full of whitecaps yesterday when I drove home from brunch and they had to close early (the whale folks that is). Oh dear, that means more painting but also more time to go to gym.
