Weekly Chat, Sunday May 9, 2010

Morning/evening all:  Lovely day here.  Sunny, warm, cactii are beginning to bloom.  Will be keeping one eye on the volcano and the other on EJ while doing other things tonight (hmmm...). Should be interesting.  Lots of chat about the volcano on the last page of the previous week.  Off to start dinner; back later!

  • Volcanocam visible magma being ejected as the light level is at dusk level and it is now just after 11pm Icelandic time.

    And a few mins later.....

Now for the thermal image with man's head bottom left.

    Volcano and the observer.

    Sat track schedule Spring 2014

LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies

  • Evening all: Had nice brunch with daughter; sat outside on the patio where it was sunny but  more than a little breezy so we passed on the Mimosas (Buck's fizz) -  I was driving anyway - and I went for usual coffee while daughter had hot chocoalate. We each had Spinach and wild mushroom omelette with hash browns and fresh fruit; we also shared an order of Fresh Raspberry Coffee Cake, which I finished off this afternoon while flailing around with the paint brushes.  The sealer/primer is on the French doors so first coat of actual paint is next, which is where it starts looking nice.  I hope.

Alan: Thanks for pix - what a tiny little creature Phoebe's chick is!  Hope (an appropriate name) this brood does well but the wind really got going this afternoon - just wild and very unusual for us.  The other Hope seems to be thriving.

dibnlib: The fourth qualification you'd need to run for office in the States is millions of dollars.....   :-(

TerryM: I am clueless about the difference between male/female peregrines. Sorry.  But looks like Sue C has an idea...

Lindybird:   Your sis-in-law's story is the third "bad" report on home projects I've heard in as many days. I guess we were really lucky with the kitchen remodel.

Patriciat: How sad about Cassie - dogs are such affectionate and people-oriented creatures they're part of the family.

OG: Saw that Steve is grounded for now; more news to come - looks like hed be in line for a new truck

Margobird: As Brenda says, the ironing is the important thing (what!?)  Heron had a little rant about the bad weather at LG on the Daily Update and it sorted itself out, so maybe he'll have another one at the volcano and it'll behave itself too.

jsb: Fab shots of the volcano - thanks!  And for both shots of that fella.

Thanks for all posts - dolike to read them. Could fall into bed any time but just realized Foyle's War is one from 9-10:30.  Daylight has arrived at LG so off to see what's happening on the Daily Update.

  • Cactus flowers from my garden today - amazing such plain plants can put out such extravagant flowers.

  • A little rain in night, now bright and dry here.  Pre-packing preparation today – but no ironing!!  Now looking back to yesterday evening’s posts.  Sue C – I look at Bear Centre reports every evening, and watch Lily and Hope videos. Hope looks so grown up now, until you see her so small next to her mama!  Lindybird – sorry SiL is having construction problems – why can’t people get these jobs right first time? (rhetorical question – we all know the answer – bring back real apprenticeships – oh dear, think I’ve been here before!).  Patriciat – sorry to read about Cassie, and hope they still manage to enjoy the holiday – a lovely time of year with the trees just coming into leaf, everything so fresh and green.  jsb – thanks for reproducing volcano pictures.  Annette – pleased to hear your door painting is coming along.  Wonderful Cactus blooms.  Pleased to see on the daily thread that you gave in and went to bed early (well, less late!).  Lindybird – thanks for the Monday laugh!  Sooo Cat (would a Dog be so fastidious?)  'Morning DjoanS – I hope the day improves for you.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Morning all,
