OK. So we're keeping a special eye out for Odin this morning..... Cirrus: I remember Odin bringing fish very early when I was watching the chicks last year - it's much lighter earlier then so that may account for it. jsb: Thanks for the info re EJ's (non-)returning chicks. BIrds must be a lot like us: We love to see our kids but aren't too keen on having them move back in and taking over the house.
Where is the center when we need some answers as to who that was

Can someone put up a picture of Odin so we can compare it to the bird that landed on the nest ?
I think it was Odin. They were both watching the same thing off screen, and EJ accepted him on the nest beside her without protest. They were both mantling at whatever it was 'out there'. We just couldn't mistake 'our boy's' clumsiness on the nest, could we? She did tell him it was no time for him to be egg-sitting though!
Smiles, Jan.
I'm confused. The intruder came twice with much flapping and carrying on by EJ, who didn't even let him land. Then "Odin"?? arrived and she squawked but didn't get aggressive or flap around - I thought they were watching the intruder. Geez. And you couldn't see "Odin's" head because he was on the far right of the nest.
Auntie's picture above does show most of the male's head, becasue he is looking in the dame direction as EJ. We did get quick glimpses of the whole head, and I really think it was Odin.
I thought it was Odin because EJ seem to settle down while he was standing on the edge of the nest. I'm no good at recognising them, but it was her behaviour that made me think it was Odin.
I think so too Wattle; I'm sure EJ would've created a much bigger stink as soon as he landed had it been an intruder. Maybe the folks at LG will sort it out for us, but now I have to go to bed.....Hope it all gets clarified soon - will be eager to read the morning's posts.
Night-night, Annette.
Good night Annette
Ok. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, but...
Look at Auntie's photo of 5:52 AM, and look only at the splotch (or spot) of dark feathers on the male bird's chest. Look at the shape and coloring. Then look at Auntie's photo of 6:23 AM, and look only at the splotch on the male's chest. The splotch is turned a bit, because the bird is turned around. But the splotch of dark feathers looks like the same shape and color to me. The identical "tattoo" on the chest? Which means it's the same bird in both photos??? No? Yes?
THANKS, Auntie!
