HI all: I'm late starting this. Be sure to check the last two pages of the previous Weekly Chat - some interesting links, news, updates on nest data, photos. I haven't had a chance to read them all but off to do that now.
Morning all,
Lindybird : Certainly looks like Batman to me. What else could it possibly be? LOL
Patriciat : Hamish sends his congratulations to Tweed and is very impressed.
Annette : Interesting about the injured Hummingbird as I had an incident yesterday with a baby blackbird. I was watching the footie on the tele and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this movement on the window sill. On closer inspection it was a blackbird chick. As I could not see any adult bird around I started to become a little concerned. However it did look healthy so I decided to leave it alone and see what happened. It must have remained on the sill for at least an hour and seemed quite at home sunning itself. Eventually I saw a male blackbird on the lawn with a mouthful of worms. The male blackbird flew onto the windowsill and fed the chick only a few feet away from where I was sitting. Later both the birds flew off. I am still a bit worried though as there are many cats in the neighbourhood. Hopefully it will be ok.
Everyone else thanks for your chat, pics etc. Not sure what is planned for today but at the moment it is freezing with frequent rain showers. Feels like march not may.
Temp 6.1c COLD
Good Morning Patriciat, Intersting to hear that Father Eugene sings solo and nice to hear about your Mum.Good news about Tweed and you doing so well. What a team! Ihave friends who race Huskies and they also have a Scandanavian Hound who ran in his first race last week and came in first. It is a race where he pulls my friend on her bike. She beat the other females and the men by some considerabe minutes. This now qualifies them to run on the continent. Mungo has his passport and is all jabbed up in prep. Jo has said that this type of race is much more competitive in Europe so she will have her work cut out
Good morning Alan and you are right about it being cold. Have just pegged washing out and have come back in freezing. I suppose all in all it is typical Bank Holiday Monday weather. We had rain on and off all day yesterday so I am hoping it will stay dry now.
I hope a cat doesn't get your baby blackbird. We have several cats who visit our garden and I am always watchful when all the baby birds are around. We cover our pond up with netting because in the past baby sparrows and starlings have drowned. Always made me sad so pond is kept covered all the time now. Had a visit from a female sparrowhawk yesterday. Didn't catch anything in my garden it just sat on the edge of the bird bath looking. As luck would have it the sparrows and starlings must have seen it as they were all down feeding just before it arrived. Upsetting when they do catch a bird but they all have to feed their babies. The starlings are the most greedy little things as well. I put dried mealworms out that I soak first and they can emply the tray in minutes. Have started to ration them now, some in the morning and some late afternoon. When they are gone they will make a start on the grated cheese and anything else on the bird table. They really are hooligans though and make such a mess trhowing everything around but I have to say they do amuse me.
Have a good day.

Good morning Lindybird that made a laugh.
Morning all. Just come back from a quick trip to the garden centre ... and although the sun is shining now after earlier rain , it is freezing cold ... I swear that wind is coming straight from the arctic :(((
I wasn't around much yesterday, but I read that the camera was down, so I didn't miss much!
Congratulations to Tweed ... an of course his 'mum'.
Another great cartoon to start the week Lindybird
Thanks to everyone else for chat etc

Gosh. Where is everybody today...
Alan: How lucky to have a front-row seat of the baby blackbird and Dad. Thanks for cartoon Lindybird.
Hi Annette: It is a Bank Holiday here today, most people are not at work (though my daughter-in-law is as she is in the holiday industry), and although there is a cold wind everywhere, most places are dry, so folks are out and about today. Glad to hear your garage Sale went well, and that you enjoyed the BBQ - how nice to relax afterward.
Very cold wind here today, too Margobird. We went for a long walk on a footpath which is based on an old railway track, so very flat but slightly raised so that you can see the countryside all around: took Husband & Dog, who enjoyed all the country smells. We saw Pheasants and in the distance, high flying Buzzards.
Ah thanks Lindybird: I thought maybe they'd been "raptured" or abducted by Stephen Hawking's aliens! :-)
Wattle: Those hands must be sore after all that weeding/digging! Sounds like pretty hard work to me.
Diane: Thanks for amazing stats about the space travel - I was one of those who was fairly horrified a few years ago when an International probe was sent out with a message for 'anyone out there' complete with a picture of a man & woman, and instructions to anyone in the universe on how to find us! - how could we possibly know if another civilisation more advanced than ours would not just come here and ravage our planet? Thank goodness it will take quite a while for this time bomb capsule to get well out into space......
Annette: Your good Deed for the Day, rescuing that little hummer. Hope he is OK.
AQ: Fascinators are worn by just about any age here, and have been embraced with joy by us older ladies who don't really like hats much. Everyone still dresses up to the nines for weddings, and unfortunately the clothes are not much use afterwards unless you're someone who goes to Mayoral Dinners or The Races. Anyway, I solved the problem of what to wear by finding a pretty skirt and blouse ensemble smart enough on their own, with a matching jacket over the top which I then removed in the evening, to leave me free for dancing and as the skirt had a nice loose waistband, more eating! Suggest you look for a suit like that or a dress with jacket over which can be discarded later.
Terrible news daily as to how much worse the problem with the oil slick is becoming in the Gulf of Mexico, makes you feel so helpless that we can't do anything.
Thank you for makinig me laugh Lindybird - it certainly looks like batman to me. I just don't want t think about that oil slick - forgive me. (The wildlife). It's bad enough waiting for Odin to return with a fish . He's been gone for hours.
