Weekly Chat, Sunday May 2, 2010

HI all: I'm late starting this.  Be sure to check the last two pages of the previous Weekly Chat - some interesting links, news, updates on nest data, photos. I haven't had a chance to read them all but off to do that now.

  • Sorry to hear about the little hummer, Annette - you did your best to give him a chance.  Must get myself over to the Trucker cam, I always enjoy his scenery but don't find the time to watch as much as I'd like.

Off to vote shortly, then shopping mission, then bank mission, then in the a'noon a bit of light relief in form of gossip with some friends over a cuppa. Have a good day, All.

  • Morning All, The sun is shining, but is cool. We will go to vote shortly.

Interesting to read all the earlier weather reports. I thought it was the British, who were known to always discuss the weather.

AQ, I noticed that they are selling electric drills in bright pink for women to use !!  Maybe a Mother's Day present ?  I can't believe there are any women, who would want such a thing and if they did need to use a drill they would just use the normal coloured one.

Diane, I hope TK will still be able to ride with Trucker Steve. I presume the cat enjoys the ride. I do  love watching the elephants at Pete's Pond.  Fantastic animals.

Annette, So sorry to hear about your hummingbird and then the red-tailed hawk chick. These poor birds have such a difficult short life.

Thanks to All for news/ pictures. My OH is ready to go out.

  • Brenda H:  the point about pink drills etc is that it brands them as being HERS!!!  If a woman wants her tools to stay where SHE wants them, and not be appropriated to HIS toolbox, never to be seen again, they have to be very distinctive!  A man will generally use whatever tools are handiest to the job to be done, and from then on (usually) they are HIS,  just because he's used them!  LOL~!

    Smiles, Jan.

  • Morning all,

Just a quick post before we go on a voting mission followed by a shopping mission.

Emma Peel : Belated congratulations to you and Steed.

Everyone else thanks for the chat , pics etc.

Remember to vote OSPREY today as they are the only ones that wont let you down.

I am off to vote but it is a foregone conclusion in this constituency. A donkey with a blue tail would be elected in North West Cambridgeshire.

Weather cloudy and cool at the moment.

  • Good morning Alan you never fail to make me chuckle with your humerous comments.  Have just done my duty and voted and it is a forgone conclusion here as well, so another donkey with a blue tail.

  • Hello Annette so sorry to read the little hummer did not make it but I know you did your best.  Awful about the Red-Tailed Hawk chick.  What a hard life it can be for these chicks.

My friend sent me the following (with animated cartoons):-   I don't do housework because I love birds and I don’t want one to run into a clean window and get hurt.   I don’t wax floors because I am terrified a guest will slip and get hurt then I’ll feel terrible (plus they may sue me.)   I don’t mind the dust bunnies because they are very good company, I have named most of them, and they agree with everything I say.   I don’t disturb cobwebs because I want every creature to have a home of their own.   I don’t spring clean because I love all the seasons and don’t want the others to get jealous.   I don’t pull weeds in the garden because I don’t want to get in God’s way, He is an excellent designer.   I don’t put things away because my kids will never be able to find them again.   I don’t do gourmet meals when I entertain because I don’t want my guests to stress out over what to make when they invite me over for dinner.   I don’t iron because I choose to believe them when they say "Permanent Press".   I don’t stress much on anything because "A Type" personalities die young and I want to stick around and become a wrinkled crusty ol’ woman!! . . . Remember a clean house is a sign of broken computer.

Morning aquilareen the above certainly made me smile.  I will look at housework, gardening and cooking  in a different way now, or I would like to anyway.   Have dashed round like a mad thing this morning and also been to vote as well.  Had visitors yesterday so osprey viewing was a bit curtailed.

    Have a good day.

  • AQ   thanks for that. I now have an excuse for everything. Sorry, that should be reason.

OH and I voted this am and then went to Simpsons for decorative bark. Certainly will not be staying up to watch the results come in.

Daily Mail page 23 worth a look. A photo of the Longleat Lions in a field of bluebells.

  • Afternoon all haven't been on for a while but have been keeping up to date with all the news and the wonderful pics. Been to see doctor today to get the results of blood taken last week and the tablets that I have been given aren't working as well as expected so the dose has been doubled and I have to take them first thing in the morning then go back to bed for an hour with a cup of tea. Did some shopping while I was out and then voted. Son and his wife are coming to stay for two days this weekend on their way to the airport as they are going on holiday and then they stay again on their way home. BiL goes on Tuesday for his pre-op examination to Western General, he was supposed to go yesterday but GP felt he wasn't strong enough, so the question will be will he be strong enough to go through an operation? Has anyone been watching Hebridean Adventure on BBC2 what a wonderful place for wildlife it is.  AQ you have just given me more excuses for sitting in front of a screen. Hope everyone is feeling well.

  • Afternoon george g sorry to hear that BiL not well enough to fo for pre-op tests let alone an operation.  You really having a difficult time at the moment and hopefully they have sorted your medication out now.

I have been watching Hebridean Adventure and it is just wonderful,  The scenery is out of this world.  So nice to know that there are still places like this and hopefully they will stay this way.
