Good grief. How did it get to be April 28 already?!
All quiet on the nest right now; EJ seems to be snoozing.
Thanks Margo and Joan for the picture. Hanging out the washing, so I missed it.
Maybe not raining - lots of birdsong at LG this morning.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Well done Odin.
I know it's the wrong blog but I'm just heart wrenched - the most dreadful news from Mull Eagles. My thoughts with birds and humans.

Good morning Cirrus it is so sad isn't it. One of the saddest blogs I have ever read, much the same as when Deshar left us. The last paragraph of that blog speaks volumes. It must have been heart wrenching for the "watcher". When I read it yesterday and posted on here to let people know tears were streaming down my face. Nature is so cruel at times.
Margobird
I failed to catch your post Margobird - I was out such a lot. I had trusted to watch chicks being fed when I go to Mull on 8 May. I wish I knew if Eagles might have a second clutch in such stressful times.
Morning/afternoon all:)
Thanks Joan and Margo for news of the fish delivery. Great to hear
EJ sits so still sometimes i think my picture has frozen.
I know what you mean about the Mull Eagle chicks. So sad. Weather seemed to be against them.
Jane, super that you are going to Mull. Do make sure you still go and see the Eagles at the hide as I'm told it's spectacular even when they're just sitting there:)

Cirrus reading through the blog again I don't think there will be a second clutch as it has not been mentioned. So sad that you will be able to see them now and I wonder how long they will brood the failed egg before they leave it. this blessed weather has a lot to answer for this past winter. I read that brn owls my have a difficult time this year because they would have eaten enough during the long cold, wet and snowy spells.
Gary - my hide time is already booked (daily - save for the Sunday - arriving late-ish evening Saturday I'm deferring to my friend in the 'free' Sunday - to get our bearing etc. Oh yes, plus the day we are doing a 6hour whale boat trip). I chose the (RSPB) wilidlife week deliberatey cos the RSPB 'put things ''on'' '.
Margobird - yes, I remeber someone somewhere saying that Barn Owls don't hunt in the rain. What a start to the nature year.
It's such a comfort to see Odin keeping EJ fed and enjoying his egg sitting time. He brought more moss in this morning - hope this lot doesns't get blown off the nest like the last lot did !! And such a joy that Malcom has got his act together (obviously his first eggs !! do we know that for sure or is it just me thinking that?) and is taking such good care of Marge.
Off to visit a poorly neighbour for a while now - catch up with you all later :)
I am niot sure it is Malcom's first eggs, but he has been good boy today so far brought in 2 fish already and the weather sounds worse at LOTL than it does at LG. From the blog it seems he is like Odin and loves doing the incubating bit. Madge came back twice after her early morning feed and he did not want to relinquish the eggs to her.
Recorded that switch as EJ ousts Odin with a stick:
