I can't see any current thread that would fit my question so I started this one.
I have seen baby swans riding on their mother's back. Does anyone know how they get onto her back after they hatch? I assume they hatch on land

Thank you for the beautiful pics of swans, ducks and babies. The pic of Mum swan with cygnets on board was particularly interesting. So glad I had a look on this site.
Thanks for the ducklings pic, Alan: I just love ducklings, they always look as if they're as light as thistledown, and they bob about so easily, completely unafraid of the water.
