Given the length of EJ's early-morning absence from the nest (best part of 3 hours), you'd think it safe to assume that she did get a fish before the cam recovered just before 0600hr - but MIKE checked in just as the cam came back up, to an empty nest and then Odin flew in. That seems strange - there should have been an exchange on the nest, but the circumstances Mike found are more indicative of EJ having flown for a break and Odin flying in to take over. Maybe she had gone fishing for herself, and that's why she didn't seriously scream for fish all day. I do hope that MOFFER gets a reply to her query eventually.
The dreaded Blue Darvic was on the scene again yesterday (that's blithely assuming he's the same chap who intruded last year)... but Odin dealt with him efficiently. Apart from that it was a lovely day, with both EJ and Odin presenting us with treats for the eyes and hearts on a bright sunny day.
No flyabouts or flaps yet tonight, just the usual alternating between sleeps (plenty) and watchfulnesses and egg-care:
IMAGICAT
Good morning, all! EJ is looking peaceful as she incubates. Only a week or so to go!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
