A new month and lots to look forward to as we eagerly await these precious eggs which Maya and Blue 33(11) have devotedly protected, hatch!
For anyone new and just starting to watch the Rutland Manton Bay Webcam, here is a brief summary of the 2016 season so far:
The resident female, Maya returned 21 March. Her mate Blue 33(11) returned 27 March. Maya has laid three eggs, #1 on 4 April, #2 on 7 April and #3 on 10 April. Maya and 33(11) are currently sharing incubating duties and we should see a hatch around the second week in May.
Happy viewing
change over .... Maya arrives back and potters around the nest as 33 is not for moving :-)
Maya then moves closer ... she wants back on the eggs

33 has flown back in and mantling
Now standing beside Maya ... doesn't appear to be coming to anything.
33 has now flown.
A little reminder of things to come!

I wonder how S1, S2 and S3 are doing? I pray they are safe and enjoying exploring their wintering grounds and one day they return home.
Another change over - 33 lands and makes for the cup. Maya quickly rises and lets him on the eggs aww
Just thinking, poor 33 soon wont be getting his sit down which I'm sure he'll really miss and so will we :-)
In one of the April blogs they showed a picture of 33 sitting down even when the chicks were around from last year
Hi Patily, yes I remember seeing that! 33 was plonked in the middle and the chicks scattered round the nest LOL, it really was funny.
I don't think he did at first tho. I remember thinking he never stayed long, just dropped of the fish and away as if he was quite scared of them LOL
One thing I am wondering about this year is if he will feed them?
Looks like 33 on the nest so does that mean there's been a fish?

Morning Patily and all
Maya has just come back
Maya approaches the cup to change over with 33. Her head looks wet, I think she has had a bath.
33 flies off and Maya settles down to incubate
Morning KAREN Nice captures
Maya checking the eggs ... the colours of the nest are gorgeous this morning
and settles down again
