A new month and lots to look forward to as we eagerly await these precious eggs which Maya and Blue 33(11) have devotedly protected, hatch!
For anyone new and just starting to watch the Rutland Manton Bay Webcam, here is a brief summary of the 2016 season so far:
The resident female, Maya returned 21 March. Her mate Blue 33(11) returned 27 March. Maya has laid three eggs, #1 on 4 April, #2 on 7 April and #3 on 10 April. Maya and 33(11) are currently sharing incubating duties and we should see a hatch around the second week in May.
Happy viewing
Maya is up and has called a couple of times ...
One of the eldest chicks is showing some aggression towards its siblings

Maya continues to wait, having a preen and the chicks settle
The chicks have been sunbathing almost all day. Maya has brooded them only a couple of times and has left them exposed most of the time. Now they are feeding. 3rd chick is behind at the moment. I saw a couple of feeds and the chicks were stuffed to death. Oh, one of them has already fallen asleep, I think!?

Oh no #3 is far away from Maya and the fish and a feed and making no attempt to get to her
The feed is over so little one didn't miss much
I think it got one mouthful and Maya has now settled down on #3, hopefully a bit more at the next feed.
I was watching this at the time and I think #3 wasn't able to move forwarwd to line up with the others. Maybe there is a small amount of nest cup for him to negotiate.
Maya has forgotten a chick out :D
33 has just returned with a fish. He actually came in with about 10 minutes ago but some reason Maya didn't get up so he left with it. She rose and called and in he came.
Feeding now ... only two chicks interested, one is asleep, and #3 is getting fish this time.
