Starting new DU as EJ was just up-n-about. Pics coming later.
It's not looking good here - just 'liked' my own post instead of editing :-/
Here is a variety of EJ's flaps at that time:
And a loving mum snap:
IMAGICAT
Off out shortly so I'll see you all later.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hello everyone, looks like a nice day at LG today. When will the lady be fed today, hopefully not too long to wait. When do we expect the first egg to hatch? Will catch up later. TTFN
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Morning from me too! Another lovely day at LG, EJ is incubating.
I have just seen this (posted on the Dyfi thread) an extract from an update from Dyfi after a comment that both Glesni and Blue 24 were spending long periods overnight, away from incubating, and I assume that means Monty did not take over on at least one nest:
Both the female at the Glaslyn and Glesni have been leaving their eggs un-incubated for some time overnight - this is quite normal.
Proper incubation doesn't start until the second and third eggs are laid - this is to synchronise hatchings to a smaller window than the egg laying window which can't be foreshortened simply due to the biological process that needs to take place to make an egg.
I have seen Kielder say the same thing. I can't say I have ever been aware that EJ does this.

EJ has flown. Here's Odin.
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
EJ starts to get up, to check the eggs, I thought. But no, as she rose Odin arrived and then exchanges contact chirrups before EJ flew off for a break, and Odin resumed incubation.
I am on Carnyx and it is difficult to take a snip for the buffering, plus quality isn't great compared to all who use VLC. So although captures rubbish just to record Odin on the nest and taking over incubation.

Ooops I see you have it covered now Moffer and Sheila. Thought I was home alone :-)

My captures are from Carnyx too, except occastionally you may see some without the date/time and that's when I've had VLC running (seldom).
Do you have a problem with VLC, MARY?

Me neither!
It may be common practice, but as MOFFER says, the Glaslyn egg is doomed :'(
Scylla I have not got VLC :-) Sounds a bit complicated, so never bothered with it.
Better we all catch it, than none of us does, Mary! I too am on Carnyx, and cursing the buffering! I have five tabs open with cams, but only one active at the time as my OH is complaining about internet usage!! Whether that makes any difference I don't know, but I no longer keep the cams beaming pictures!
Odin has just faffed and taken two minutes to check the eggs and settle back down!
And Odin has checked again and has changed position
A telephone call has delayed my posting, but Odin started to check at 11.32
