HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here. Check back, because there were a lot of new, long posts at the end of the thread.

Everyone have a wonderful week!

Diane – What a lovely cheery sight to start us off. Thank you. Poor Mrs Squirrel – there you are in that great big house and you can’t spare a corner. LOLOL

    .

AQ: I've learned to take a hard line with the fox squirrels. I think I complained -- a lot -- on this thread when one of them got into my crawl space beneath the house and decided to nest where my living room floor meets the wall. Never again! I pounded on the wall and played the radio loud to stop her nest building -- BBC World Service. I had a well-informed squirrel with a British accent who still wouldn't leave. I couldn't get to that squirrel to chase her out. I actually would have just let her be, but she kept trying to chew the wood. So I always give the squirrels a stern lecture if they show too much interest in the house. LOL!

Hope your wrist is healing well. Be careful not to stress it. I'm sorry the arthritis pain is worsening there.

  • I'd have loved to have seen your pelicans, Diane. Not seen one apart from in zoos, except once when walking around a harbour in Cyprus, when we saw a pet one outside a cafe!!

We enjoyed a walk in some woods this morning - the trees were full of birds calling, but we hardly saw any of them in spite of the lack of leaves!  We've had some welcome dry weather, so are now lolling around reading in the sunshine, as the wind dropped, too. Hardly anyone here on our site, as most people went home yesterday.

I hope your wrist is recovering, AQ, and that you can now enjoy the cooler weather. Don't do too much housework now you've got the time!

  • Morning all:

Diane: A well informed squirrel with a British accent? :-))   I love it!  Did you see the white pelicans? Glad they found somewhere to wait out the storm.

Heather: Good you're better for lunch with the kids.

Lindybird: Enjoy your extra day. I obviously need to buy a caravan so I can also pile my pretty pebbles outside the door.

OG: Hope you continue to improve.

    Margo: Same to you dearie.

Am getting serious now about preparing for trip. Carpet cleaner will be here Thursday; OH and I will be moving bedrooms to let sister and BiL have the so-called master bedroom with its own bathroom. OH has decided this is the time to make another big pile of clothes to take to charity shop!  Making various lists and checking them twice and three times.  I'll be leaving next Sunday just after lunch, staying the usual night at halfway point, then in Prescott Valley AZ for the night to see daughter, granddaughter and Ms. D, then another night between PV and Santa Fe. I don't drive more than  6 hours a day these days!  Will be in Santa Fe the night before sister and BiL arrive by train. We'll putter back to California over the next week and then they'll have almost a week here before they fly back to the UK. We've been planning this for months and I'm sure they'll be here and gone before we know what's happened. Busy days ahead.

  • ANNETTE- Yes, exciting and you are obviously planning for them to have a great holiday!

DIANE- I had a good laugh. Speaking in BBC English! It would have been worse if the BBC presenters still spoke in 'received pronunciation!

TINA- Dream feeding? Somewhere in the back of my brain, I have heard of this. I have been around long enough to remember feeding every four hours, asleep or not and then demand feeding.

OG- have you been to inspect your garden today? We have had incessant rain both here in Inverness and in Elgin where I spent most of the day.

BRENDA - have you heard from MARGO?

LYNETTE, LINDY, everyone - thank you for your news! Talk tomorrow.

  • First Egg to Rutland - Maya has performed!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Whoo hoo, OG!!

    [Hope you're feeling better!]

  • Would write a ditty for Diane but nothing rhymes with squirrel........  :-D
