Keith and Ann closed last month with some lovely chat and osprey news. It is this kind of coverage that we must have if The Gabfest is to be able to continue.
The Gabfest does have a purpose - a reason for being. That purpose is to educate about wildlife in general and ospreys in particular. We do that by following the osprey we care about with pictures and narrative, and by entertaining ourselves with other topics of interest to us. If we are interested others probably will be also. They will thus be drawn to our site where they will get to know the osprey we love.
Pictures are not necessary to make an interesting post. I was hooked before I ever saw a cam simply by reading the entries on The Main Blog. They did not use pictures then. Through the years many Gabbers have added to our thread with simple observations and comments.. The posts of one Gabber in particular are greatly missed. SUGAR'S early morning observations of the Loch Garten nest were a joy to read.
It is to be hoped that we can have many reports, comments and observations this summer, both with and without pictures, as we enjoy the antics of our favorite osprey.

She did not do as well as Anne of Cleves but faired the same treatment however she outlasted Lady Jane Grey who managed 9 days as Queen.
One point Anne of Cleves was given a good settlement and outlived all of the other wives of Henry VIII. So hope yet for Blue 24.
WHITE 14 still exploring his new country Switzerland but has moved a wee bit further south.
I am about to move a wee bit further south shortly.
JUNE - I will not and this is not the place to debate Gun laws which I know is a big issue in USA.
It took the tragedy in my home town of Dunblane just over 20 years ago to alter the United Kingdoms Gun Laws when a lone gunman walked into Dunblane Primary School and shot dead 16 children all five years of age and their teacher whilst enjoying a lesson in the gymnasium. They had only started school months before.
DUNBLANE TRAGEDY
I live only 400 yards from the cemetery and pass by their head stones each day where they now rest. Dunblane's Little Angels now watch over the town and keep it a very happy and safe wee town.
Thanks Keith for your rationale. Sadly, this does point towards your conclusion. However, I very much hope people are still keeping an eye out for him - just in case!

Nature Lover, like you I was remembering that Roy thought Rothiemurchus had lost his backpack and so I was holding out some hope that he might still be spotted.
But also like you, I think we must agree with Keith. A year ago we might have had reason for hope, but it seems that time is against us.

Keith, again you are right (as always). Gun control should not be debated here on The Gabfest. And a lively debate it would have been, too.
Does it snow every night at Loch Garten or are they showing old movies? Reminds me of a song - - something from "Camelot" I think.
The forecast for this area is not good for this week and this scene is likely to be repeated I'm afraid.
Birdies LG DU update.
