It was wonderful to see both Maya and Blue 33(11) return much earlier this year. Maya arrived back on the 21 March and 33(11) on 27 March .
Since arriving back Maya and 33 have reestablished their partnership and are busy preparing their nest to hold these precious eggs which we so eagerly await.
Maya laid her eggs after 9 days last year so we could see eggs anytime from 6 April.
Willow, I think you need to plan a UK tour lol. Actually that is something I would like to do. Perhaps camping and do a bit of walking as all these nests are in such beautiful locations. Dream holiday :-)
Must go out for an hour now BBL
I agree that would be a dream holiday! Who needs to go abroad LOL! I have two years to go before retiring!
Maya flew in followed by 33 - mated - then he flew off

33 returned quickly with some nesting material then started mantling. Maya and 33 both looking alert just now

LOL Starling ..... where is your sense of adventure :-)
Both on nest. 33 landed on Maya's back and stayed there a few seconds. Not sure she was happy with it. Her crop looks empty.

Hi Noc, I managed to capture it but couldn't post so here it is ...
Here is 33 standing on Maya's back
And yes, her crop does look a bit empty. I haven't seen a fish today and been watching on/off all day
Thanks for the picture, Karen! It was funny! :D
Maya returns to the nest with more nesting material and starts pulling at it, placing it around the nest
I've been watching most of the day and Maya hasn't really gone far. Both of them have been busy working on the nest bringing in nesting materials, more straw than sticks, getting that nest cup ready.
It really is quite obvious from their behaviour that it isn't going to be too long before that first egg arrives :-)
Maya is still hard at work preparing the nest! She continues to move sticks, pull at the moss and scrape. I'm getting quite exhausted watching her. I do hope 33 is away fishing and brings her in a nice big supper.
