Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 27 March 2016

HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY EASTER (to those who celebrate the holiday).

Last week's Chat thread is here.

Everyone have a wonderful week.

  • The highest mountain in Fuerteventura is 2,648ft, according to Wiki.....

The highest in Tenerife, Mount Teide, is the highest mountain in the whole of Spain, including the mainland, and is 12,198ft!  I've been up that one in a car, almost to the top, where there is snow on a sunny day.

Speaking of snow and hail, we had a hail shower ourselves this afternoon. The sun is out now!

  • Trying to find my road map, mentioned above, but I think I packed it away....

  • Annette - there are very few trees on this particular island: we were told that the early invaders (there were already some primitive peoples there) chopped down the trees to build houses, heat them in winter, and then to build ships. The Canary Isles are a popular jumping off point for expeditions to USA - these days for rowing competitions, sailing races etc.

The soil which was already only very shallow, blew away without the tree & bush roots to hold it, as the rock is everywhere on a volcanic island. So there are a lot of barren wastes, but they have a beauty of their own.

When we see a farm with a tree, or a hotel with palm trees, we say "Look, a tree!" LOL!

  • LINDY - Brother's problems are all to do with money mismanagement, sadly. It seems so sad that after being in the same job from 16 until retirement and getting promotion, etc.

ANNETTE - My daughter has the bath with the bulge! The only downside that I can see is that when you get old and decrepit it isn't such a good idea if that is your only shower. We have a large walk in shower, rectangular, unlike OG's curved one. The screens are glass and easily cleaned because the water here is soft :-) We also have a bathroom with a long bath. We rarely use it but I am loathe to change it while there are still baby grandchildren to splash around in it. Arabella is the only one needing a bath, now, and I think that she will be the last.

BRENDA - have you heard anything from MARGO today?

  • Hi all lurker here testing out her new phone..

So in love with it as its so me as its in rose pink gold.

Not all up and running but some things take 24 hours.

Busy Easter with better weather than predicted.

2 domestic days and 2 out days. Trip to the beach and one to the mountains looking for big birds ( Eagles) but far too windy.

Daisy seems to like ancient monuments as she had a great time at Kildrummy Castle.

    Take care Margo xx

  • No Heather, I e-mailed Margo, but didn't expect a reply. She said she would ring when able. She was feeling very bad and I doubt she has any voice at the moment. I don't want to disturb her by ringing her at the moment.
Sorry that you are so upset by your Brother's problems. You probably feel that you want to help him, but if I remember rightly, you have helped in the past.

  • Thank you, BRENDA. Poor MARGO, as if she doesn't have enough on her plate.

  • Thanks for news of Margo, Brenda.

    Wendy - Enjoy your phone!

  • Lindy I so will ... Bought it mainly for the camera:-)

  • Brenda, let's hope Margo is soon able to talk to you. What a shame she didn't get her steak. So many on here were willing her to get there.
