HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat Thread is here.

In the U.S., we change to Daylight Saving Time tonight.

I shared this link on my Facebook page, and I thought I'd include it here. This is Shades State Park (Forest), which is just down the road from me. My grandfather was a park ranger there for many years. It's one of my favorite places in the world. I'm so ready for spring weather.

Everyone have a wonderful week!

  • Never was so much conversation (and even poetry) caused by a simple cake!  To put it to rest, it was not for the Minister – he even refused a biscuit, and just had a drink of tea with nothing in it.  Our conversation with him was very useful, and we didn’t volunteer for anything.  After dinner, we did have a slice of cake (dinner was just a veg risotto with parmesan, so not too heavy), and even I had to concede it was quite edible, even enjoyable.  The Wild Bunch had an interesting talk from a lady who has done education for the RSPB until made redundant, and is now exploring working as a teaching ranger on a holiday park; she has a real enthusiasm for all things natural and for spreading the word further, as a necessity for health and well-being to counteract the sedentary and screen-based lifestyle of the digital age.  She was easy to listen to and really made us think.

Annette – looking forward to reading about your Daughter’s and Granddaughter’s plans in AZ!  Hope you had a good meet-up with daughter yesterday.

Linda – pleased to see you both feel the holiday has done you good, and the weather didn’t totally spoil it for you.  As you will notice, we have been enjoying spring here.  Sorry to read that your Friend’s husband is unwell now, after all they have been through with her health problems.  I loved the cake poem – not sure whether OH has seen it yet!  If you are set on keeping Bonnie, I do hope you can get her trained to remain in the garden, before she becomes liable for a road accident.  Pleased to see she slept yesterday so you could get on with unpacking and laundry, and that she has made a good return to settling in her crate at night, now that she is back with you and your OH.  Hope you didn’t have to re-wash your green-spotted underthings, and pleased that was his fault, not Bonnie’s!

Brenda – sorry your OH still has to have a biopsy on the mouth mark – I had thought they would do that while he was there, as part of the examination.  Pleased the first eye procedure is now done; that must have been a tiring experience for him – and you – I hope he will be patient and rest properly.

OH has gone to Carlisle yet again – this time to collect the extra towel rail we were waiting for in the shower room – he will fit this one himself.  They still haven’t managed to calculate the final invoice for the work we had done.  He will do the Tesco shopping on the way home, and then hopes to continue some repotting jobs with me, and also work on the grass again.  I am now going to prepare the spare mushrooms and also some left over celery to put in the freezer for a planned recipe next week, and generally potter about indoors this morning.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good Morning Everyone. Two phone calls this morning, so I haven't done anything yet.  A ' nothing' weather morning. White sky, no sun and very still.

I do need to go shopping, especially for fresh food.

  • Hello all -

The sun is trying to put his hat on.

Nothing much happening here, just back from (yet more) shopping. I have had a special request from Elgin, to make a coffee cake, so must turn out the cupboard where the cake tins live. See, OG, you cannot put the cake subject to rest :-) I rarely bake these days so, everyone, keep your fingers crossed. I am inclined to blame the oven when things don't turn out properly.

BRENDA - I hope that your OH gets his biopsy soon, I was also surprised that it wasn't done there and then. Also was happy to read that his eye procedure went off OK. Please forgive me, I cannot remember if he is driving yet?

LINDY - In a way I suppose you are happy that Bonnie was not let off the lead, they were probably dead scared that she would run off on them! Now I guess she is on a diet?

  • Morning all: Waiting for coffee to brew but CBS News are showing a live webcam of eagles, brand new chick and another egg to hatch below.  THere's a short ad before the video starts.

    Back later.

  • I like the names, Mr President and the First Lady! (FLOTUS?)

  • HEATHER   Mum was 81 last birthday so that does put Patricia Routledge in her 80s.

  • Just texted brother's partner today and things are not looking good. Looks like he may have to be put down as they suspect brain damage and possible blindness.

Annette and Diane - don't blame you if you decide to emigrate to Canada.

  • Not good news from Margo, then .   Hugs and kisses and will remember her in prayers.
