HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat Thread is here.
In the U.S., we change to Daylight Saving Time tonight. I shared this link on my Facebook page, and I thought I'd include it here. This is Shades State Park (Forest), which is just down the road from me. My grandfather was a park ranger there for many years. It's one of my favorite places in the world. I'm so ready for spring weather.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
Good Morning Everyone. Looks to be a bright day here. Yesterday became very cloudy in the afternoon. Appointment for OH at hospital this afternoon for a mark on inside of cheek.
Brenda: Hope that mark can be taken care of with ease.
Thanks Diane, His dentist thinks it may be her fault. Not sure if today is just X-ray and maybe biopsy taken.
Good morning everyone.
Just a quickie because I haven't showered yet. Middle daughter phoned and the minutes just flew by. It is dull again this morning but maybe, like yesterday, the sun will burn through.
I hope that all goes well with the hospital appointment, BRENDA.
BBL
lovely walk at the canal today though the weather wasn't particularly good. It was at least dry even though overcast and cold.
Glad you had a nice walk, dibnlib.
Just took a walk around my patch at sunrise. The big pileated woodpeckers squawked at me loudly. It appears that they're going to nest close to the house this year in a tall white sycamore tree.
Is it a big patch, DIANE? I will have to google White Sycamore Tree. Our neighbours have the standard variety, not really suitable for a small town garden and if we are not vigilant enough, we have multiple seedlings trying to make themselves at home in our garden.
Agree, DIBNLIB, it is cold and the mist or haar or whatever it is, hasn't lifted. I came back from shopping to find OH had the gas fire on.
I hope that ANNETTE is feeling a little better. Also thinking about MARGO who hopes to get her results from bone marrow sample ?today.
Re Blue Knees - I had blue everything from the waist down once. Many years ago when I was younger and a lot fitter and slimmer, a pal and I did the 3 peaks challenge for cystic fibrosis. The first peak was Snowden but in appalling weather so although I had waterproofs I still got soaked everywhere. When we had all finished there was no time to change as we had to get into the coach to get to Scafell Pike by dawn. On route we stopped at some motorway services and we all went to get into warm clothes. I had my waterproof trousers over some navy leggings and yes the dye had leaked into my skin from waist to ankles. It took days to return to normal. Happy memories though.
Morning all:
Heather: Doing better but being careful to pace myself - a skill I've not mastered! But again, am taking a page from OG's book and reminding myself to take breaks. :-)
Harelady: My daughter, aged about 12, had a hamster than won a prize in a local kiddie's pet competition for "most colorful" thanks to shavings in its cage that gave it a green bottom!
dibnlib: Googled House of Bruar - what a lovely location. Then went to Home furnishings page; then Gifts page, then a page where they had a lot of Abbeyhorn(?) stuff that looked nice - all pretty pricey. Unfortunately no page boasting of their posh loos!
Diane: Spent the evening reading Amazon reviews of canister vacuum cleaners and found the Consumer Reports-recommended update of my old one received a worrying number of bad ratings due to redesign of handle, which a lot of people hated due to addition of "handy" tool that made it twice as fat and unwieldy; apparently a case of Kenmore having fixed something that wasn't broken. A reasonably priced Miele got some really good reviews as did a Panasonic, so now must gird my loins and sally forth to Actual Store to inspect options - the ability to suck up cat hair being a priority. We've just spotted our first Oriole of the season, plus the very aggressive copper-colored hummingbirds come to harass the year-round community.
Brenda: Hope OH's mouth is easily sorted.
Fingers and all else crossed for dear Margo.
Must go and hose down. Not much on the agenda; will repot some succulents, tidy up some salvia, sit, read, nap. May toddle down to whale count on an informal basis to sit on bench... It's all go.

Heather: I own less than 2 acres, but my land borders an extended old-growth forest. It's not clear -- at least to me -- who owns that land. Much of that forest is in the creek's flood plain so it's not worth much in terms of money. Trains used to run through it decades ago, so I suspect that the railroad still owns it, but it's probably long been forgotten. My patch is not posh; it's just rugged flood plain grown wild with vines, brush, random trees, etc.
Here's what the woodpecker tree looks like. I think it's a white sycamore, but I'm not good at identifying trees. Sorry your neighbours' tree encroaches on your patch.
