HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat Thread is here.
In the U.S., we change to Daylight Saving Time tonight. I shared this link on my Facebook page, and I thought I'd include it here. This is Shades State Park (Forest), which is just down the road from me. My grandfather was a park ranger there for many years. It's one of my favorite places in the world. I'm so ready for spring weather.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
Good Morning Everyone. The sun is shining through a white sky.
Last day of Linda's holiday. She will travel home tomorrow after lunch, but won't be home until mid evening.
OG, You put me to shame. I definitely haven't been as active as yourself and EE this morning. Will hang out the washing shortly.
I hope the blood tests go well, today, Margo.
Good morning, OG and Brenda. How was the bowls?
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
dibnlib: I'm sorry your mother's condition is worsening. I know it's painful for you.
Brenda: Good morning. I like white hydrangeas. Lovely! OG always accomplishes more than I do.
Annette: I hope you feel better today.
Hi, Clare!
Hi, Diane!
I liked this photo of white-tailed deer in Indiana. When you're hungry, you gotta eat! LOL
A very, very warm 74 F or 23.3 C predicted here today. Thunderstorms tonight.
Good morning all
I don't think that I will ever be well organised, am too impulsive. My working life was OK, as in acute/emergency psychiatry every day threw up different problems. My poor OH must despair of me at times. He writes lists and likes routine. I don't think that he had the slightest idea of what he was getting himself into.
Quite dull here today. I did hear mention of compost, OG. One lot to be riddled if I heard correctly. OH cut front grass yesterday for the first time this year, a high cut and then used the spreader to put down ? mosskill?
Glad to read, DIBNLIB that you had a good time with your friends. So very sad for you to witness the inevitable changes in your Mum.
Diane. What a delightful photograph. 23.3c sounds a lovely temperature. I guess with thunderstorms forecast, it will become humid though.
Clare, I had a good game of bowls, but I was aware that the sun was shining brightly outside. The end of April before the outdoor season begins.
Heather, How are your OH's blue knees. Was it just the dye off his jeans, as OG suggested. I have had blue legs because of that. The jeans had to be disposed of !
Washing is hanging outside :-))
Heather: I wondered about your OH's knees, too?
You have my utmost respect for your nursing career. I think that particular area of nursing must be one of the most stressful jobs ever. I know that I couldn't do it.
Update on blue knees, BRENDA and DIANE! They had returned to normal colour by lunchtime. I really don't know what the problem was as OH hasn't worn jeans for quite a few years. No doubt I will be informed if it happens again. He is nothing if not body/health conscious and as he gets older is becoming more so. I try to keep his worries at a minimum with a mixture of common sense and affection!
Yes, DIANE, the job is stressful and while experience counts for a lot it is a fact that when I retired there were very few 'older' people working in that field in our hospital. We had a system of mentoring and clinical supervision but there were still cases of 'burn out' amongst the staff. I'm sure that must happen in other similar fields where folk are brought face to face with what can be life and death situations. It is so hard sometimes to employ empathy - to be able to understand and experience someone's feelings yet not jump into the pit with them. Then you are quite unable to help them and have become too emotionally involved. Some staff were naturally empathic but others had to learn the skill. Sorry to ramble.
I have practised enough housework avoidance so had better go back and create some kind of relationship with the vacuum cleaner.
Well, I thought that I would bump us up!
It really has been a lovely day today and looking at the weather map, it seems as if none of us has had rain.
BRENDA - We will have LINDY back by Thursday morning, I think. Also, thoughts have been with MARGO today, blood test day.
OH worked outside all afternoon, not heavy work but he just enjoyed it. He sat down between jobs, under our grape vine, which of course has no shoots yet. The sun was on his face and he was happy.
Our garage door was not working properly, OH was all for calling in a professional. I managed to persuade him to wait until one of our boys popped in and lo and behold! OH's son and wife arrived just to say hello about an hour later. Of course, he was told about the garage door and he fixed it quite quickly.
