HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat Thread is here.
In the U.S., we change to Daylight Saving Time tonight. I shared this link on my Facebook page, and I thought I'd include it here. This is Shades State Park (Forest), which is just down the road from me. My grandfather was a park ranger there for many years. It's one of my favorite places in the world. I'm so ready for spring weather.
Everyone have a wonderful week!

Good Morning, all
Sun is shining, OH off to the bowls and our garden refuse bin has been emptied, the council stop doing this during the winter so perhaps Spring is arriving. Not sure when grass mowing will begin but like OG, we are forecast a few good days. I opened the conservatory last evening to see what was what and it was actually warmish in there.
I was called by OH to look at his knees, this morning. He thought that they were blue... I scoured what is left of my medical knowledge but couldn't come up with anything sensible. Above and below the knees looked the same as ever (not a pretty sight but they have supported him for 85 years). I think I'll tell him at lunchtime that it is a symptom of chocolate overdose.
Hope that WENDY is enjoying her time away, ditto LINDY and that DIBNLIB's visit to her Mum was not too upsetting. Love to MARGO xx
Brenda: Thank you so much for passing along Margo's news. It's heart-breaking that her life is so hard right now.
Thanks also for your interest in my link yesterday. I'm missing being outdoors. Spring rains have started here. Wish I could send all the water to Annette. What colour are your hydrangeas? I know the colour is dependent on the soil PH...I think.
Annette: I'm sorry that you're still so sick. I know how much you enjoy the whale watch. I hate that you may have to miss it.
Paul: Nice to see you. Glad to hear that you've got work that's tolerable because you can be outdoors in the garden centre.
AQ: Don't work too hard burying bulbs. We're having a very early spring here, with record warm temps. I want to be outdoors, but I don't even want to think about having to start mowing the grass again!
Heather: Thanks for your interest yesterday, too. Sorry you left the groceries at the self service. I went to a different supermarket for a few items, and it was designed weirdly. I couldn't find the place to get my receipt. When I found it and turned around, a woman waiting in line was glaring at me impatiently and really ugly. I reminded myself that her life may be difficult, and I apologized. She practically growled at me. People are getting so mean-spirited and aggressive!!!
OG: Glad you enjoyed your Sunday meal. Hope the carpet fumes are dissipating.
Heather: Our posts crossed. Sorry about your OH's knees. That's a strange symptom. I hope it's just a temporary anomaly.
Margo: I'm so very sorry that Friday was such a long day for you. I hope you will get your test results soon with good news. Thinking of you...
Good morning, all. Laundry hanging outside, windows flung open, Canada cake started (boiled fruit recipe, so will bake it off tomorrow) so time for a wee sit down – with blind drawn down against the sunshine, but hoping to sow some seeds in cold frame this afternoon. Seeds already sown in greenhouse are all up, but I am trying not to rush ahead too quickly.
Heather – will email you about Dau#1’s attitude. Interesting mystery about your OH’s knees - has he been kneeling in new jeans to get blue dye on them? Or maybe they bruised from the time he spent on them doing the roses last week. I don’t think the chocolate theory will pass analysis!
Paul – good to see posts from you again – garden birds are very busy here too.
AQ – Adelaide Cup time again already? Oh dear, another year older! I hope you will find the bulbs you had put away in time to plant them to flower next spring. Nice that it is now pleasant enough for you to do some autumn weeding – and that you are fit to do it, but don’t do too much.
Annette – it was OH who was mowing our front lawns – mowed both sides and then rolled one, will roll the other this afternoon. Back grass stays damp longer as it still has more shade at this time of year – although the sun is now high enough to dry the laundry. Sorry you are still not fit for the whale count or the gym – that virus really knocked you out! I had a sudden inspiration this morning while sneezing and complaining about itchy eyes – why haven’t I started my antihistamines? Yesterday I had my head under the Alder Catkins while inspecting buds for the wee female flowers (which are there) so I must have been pollinated – and I’ve had flowers indoors for a few weeks too – how silly I am!
Brenda – I hope the clouds part soon and you get the same lovely sunshine and warmth which we are enjoying today.
Margo – I hope you are beginning to feel the benefit of last week’s transfusion – and special thoughts for test results this week. I hope that you are also getting some of this lovely spring sunshine.
OH is back from Tesco and Butcher and I broke off to help put groceries away; but now need to get busy again.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Diane, Our hydrangeas are pink, but also have some white ones. We did have them in a previous garden, where we had to give the pink ones a special feed or they would turn blue.
A familiar sight has appeared. LG nest.
YEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
A beautiful afternoon, now, except that the cold easterly breeze is now stronger and colder.
Off to play bowls, indoors :-))
