The purpose of this thread is to record observations, activity and captures of Rutland’s Manton Bay nest throughout the season.
The nest at Manton Bay has been in use since 2007 and its history can be found here.
I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Still around and trying their luck !

They quickly left and I can see a bird flying in the bay so suspect Maya is giving chase :-D
Maya has just landed on the nest. First I have seen her today!
She didn't stay long on the nest on her last visit and has now just returned with another whopper !!
Poor fish is still living and wriggling :-( but Maya keeps it firmly grasped in her talons and then flies off with it. I am amazed at just how strong they are that can hold on to those fish!
Latest blog .... " This nest is my nest"
Yes a very quiet day but Maya was on the nest before 4pm - around 3.40pm however I missed the landing around 16:15 when she seemingly was unhappy with an intruder around but this would mean that she caught that fish within minutes as I saw and captured her landing with it at 16:22! WOW!!
Maya patiently waiting.
Birdies LG DU update.

The sun is coming up and Maya waits in her Long John Silver pose!
Morning all, thanks for earlier captures.
Maya on the nest just now doing some nestwork
then a scrape
What a beautiful morning here .. she looks glorious in the sunshine
Maya has never ventured far from the nest all morning! A couple of times she has taken a short break and once brought back a stick. She has done some work on the nest but mostly has just stood patiently waiting and looking out for Blue 33.
Back to the ironing ... its nice having her around to watch as I work and LOL, as I type she has flown. Perhaps fishing as I don't think she's eaten this morning yet?
Maya doing a bit of nest defending, may have been another osprey just caught something flying down the bay.
