What do gardeners, baseball fans and osprey watchers all have in common? “ In the Spring a young man’s (OSPREY’s) fancy gently turns to thoughts of love”, and especially in the spring, “Hope springs eternal in the human breast.”
As gardeners planting seeds and wee plants, we can envision that perfect colorful garden that for me anyway never quite materializes. As a baseball fan I can envision my Cincinnati Red’s as World Champions come fall, or at least playing in the Playoffs.
As Osprey lovers, now is when we wait and HOPE and wait some more, while we envision first EJ’s return, then Oden and some spectacular sky dances. Then the mating, then three beautiful eggs and then (Oh, joy) three perfect little bobbleheads. Best not to think too much further ahead, lest we get into the time of parting and tears. But that is for later.
Now is the time of HOPE.!!
I am sure she will be back and forward between the Dyfi reserve and Llyn Clywedog reservoir.
Only yesterday she was bringing in nesting material to the Dyfi nest problem was there was no man about the house.
She will keep her options open between the two nests the problem maybe that neither will become vacant.
There are not many males around wales with a nest of their own advertising for a female.
Let us just hope she does not have to go off to a vacant nest and lay her eggs and then have to abandon them again.
This behaviour is interesting and a big learning curve for us over recent years.
Good evening all. Poor Blue 24 hope she will find her own mate with his own nest this year. She breaks my heart! I think theyll come to blows if Dais missus turns up!
You are right Keith we are always learning something about these birds and probaby the same goes for all birds! They dont always behave in the way we think they ought to :) That is what makes them so fascinating! They even confound the experts LOL
Not enough males to go round and possibly not enough vacant nests,
May I wish all readers to this thread
A HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER
Took a leaf from Keith's book and just popping over to wish a rather belated Happy and Peaceful Easter (maybe Easter Monday?) to you all.
Good afternoon all . Many thanks to Keith and Annette for the Easter greetings! We had a good Easter always a lovely peaceful day with no shops open (blissful) just how Sundays always used to be!
Over joyed at blue33 return and also Odin although there seemed to be some doubt if it was actually Odin or not . Happily theres since been confirmatiom! What will the feisty Fenrir ( or orange chest) do this year?
Happy Easter to all even though its already Easter Monday! We spent some of the afternoon photographing trains to get motion blur for a project hes doing. Very windy and cold but were rewarded by the sight of a fabulous bird cannot disclose here or say what sort of bird for fear of revealing whereabouts. But just to say it made my day and reported the sighting . Goes to show when you go with the aim of finding something you will not find but it just appeared doing something totally unrelated !
Back at the library again, while I recover from another computer virus. Just as I was starting email & Facebook and Gabfest Easter greetings Saturday evening a mean one struck, knocking me out completely. I haven't done anything yet. Will take it to the Pros tomorrow to see if material on present computer can be saved.
Has anyone used Mac? I hAVE HEARD THEY ARE NOT SO SUSCEPTIBLE TO virus AS wINDOWS. Is thi true. Is it difficult to learn? I know I am utterl y fed up with Microsoft Windows, but I cannot Imagine what another system would be like.
I see on the blog that they thought 3 days ago that Odin is back, but no further word there or here on the Gabfest.
Must go to other threads to try to catch up on the news.
