  • Annette it is a tree that is over 60 feet high and on a slippy bank. It is now resting on the cable so 8 men 3 with hard hats stood talked used phones and are now back sitting in their various vehicles . It will be dark in a while and snow forecast and grit lorry has just been up.

Considering I live near the end of a dead end road it all happens.

  • Minimal weather on the road and a faster process this morning – I must have got landed on the couch in a better position to get started.  We came home for a cheese and salad sandwich as we had a quick turnaround to get to the chiropodist.  Should have been going to a lecture this evening; it would have been interesting, but I said I just can’t make the effort to go out a third time, and it is in Dumfries, so journey time has to be added.

Brenda – we did see just one tree on the edge of Carlisle which had partly twisted off, but someone had turned it out of the road.  Sorry you will have to endure that awful metal fencing in place of the lovely hedge; I hope they will move on quickly and get the job done and over with, since it is now inevitable.

Heather – I hope you are resting!  Sorry the rain is still so heavy up there.

Dibnlib – busy day for you, dashing hither and yon; do take care!

Wendy – sorry run-off is so bad, especially for next door.  Tree saga is interesting, especially if it turns out to be eight men doing nothing!

Annette – no spare time to play at therapy; we are timing our journeys perfectly now, and then all the measuring and imaging is done with me in position lying absolutely still and not allowed even a cough or sneeze!  OTB know why we are driving that way so much – and that this Thursday will be a celebration after session twenty of twenty!  Have you already chosen your new shrubs, or are you browsing for something that takes your fancy?

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Annette, If I look out of our bedroom window, which is unusual and is shaped like a ship's prow, ( I have forgotten the design name )  pointing outwards, proud of the house wall,  we have a good view, from one side, so I can still see what they are doing on the building site.

Wendy, Maybe they will have to turn off the power before they touch the tree, but why don't they just get on with it. They will be paid more if they have to work this evening though :-))

  • OG  enjoy a nice relaxing evening, that is what we are doing. OH back to work after 12 days off and hols. He works a 9-5 tomorrow, then 10-3 on Thurs, then 6 days off again.

The church service was really good and the attendance was good esp as there were only 3 family members. Our minister wore his kilt and jested there was only one choice he had for a service for an Englishman who was' a more patriotic Scot than many Scots. His family were very appreciative of all the church had done for him.

Looking forward to a swim tomorrow.

OG   what great news you are nearly at the 20/20 point.

  • OG, Not sure you will want to go near Carlisle again for a while, when your treatment is over. Your car should know the way, without a driver LOL Looking forward to celebrating with you, in spirit, on Thursday.

  • Dibnlib, So pleased that the funeral was really good. After all your hard work I can understand why you are having a relaxing evening.

  • Well it's going to happen.....

Not sure when as they are waiting for a " bit" to arrive.

Flood lights at the ready chains saws warmed up so just waiting for blackout..

Candles at the ready and fire banked up..

I have a feeling tonight's dinner will a tad late....

  • My post failed to go as leccy went off.

All done and dusted in 90 mins but it took 3 vehicles and 15 guys.

Cheered from study window when tree went but I think the new landscape in the light of day will be so sad.

Tea late but all done phew ;-)

  • Wendy: I'm glad they brought the tree down successfully. I know what you mean about the landscape. I still greatly miss the big tree that I lost a couple of years ago.

Clare: I came on here to post this link for you. I thought you might like it. Apparently, the bald eagle and raven are friends.

  • Hi all, posting while we have internet connection, it has been off and on all day. Youngest daughter says that BT have had major problems all day.

Thanks for all news, if we are still online tomorrow I will write then :-)
