Unbelievable Mike... looks like the balloon crashed right into the nest tree. Luckily enough this did not happen two months ago and I trust that birds are safe and well.
I'm speechless!

Thanks Mike
Both the balloon pilot and microlight pilot should be made an example off, I really hope that the authorities throw the book at these pair.
To say I am livid is an understatement!
Hopefully we will get some news as to whether the male & female and their four chicks have come back to the nest.
It has made the newspapers now. LATEST ON THE COURIER WEBSITE.
Have had some news from Darren, he said that Craig had been up at the loch at 6 am this morning and all of the birds were there!
Thank Goodness!
Relieved to know that birds have returned to the nest after the scare.
Thank you Mike for reporting, I'm pretty sure that your pictures of passengers taking photos will prove (ridiculous) explanations brought by the operator and its irresponsible pilot false.
EDIT: not sure Mike could take photos as the event was developing, explanations still remain ridiculous as the operator publicizes balloon flight in the (well known) area and no mention was made to any ongoing emergency forcing the pilot to land in a lake.
Yes Roberto, the same old excuses. I hope that the authorities do not accept the excuses and take it further.
Do Virgin really think that people will believe their utterly poor excuse? What codswallop. Typical PR statement by them and the pilot should be struck off for such irresponsible behaviour. Sickening incident
How absolutely ridiculous and what irresponsible flying Glad to hear the poor birds are OK What would have happened if it had been earlier in the season doesn't bear thinking about. Hope the law comes down on them hard
All 4 juveniles still around
