HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's chat thread is here.
I saw R. T. Hawk on Thursday. It's been so cold here that I had to put the battery charger on my car for a long while. I went out as the sun was setting to remove it. R. T. screeched at me when I went out the front door. When I closed the car bonnet/hood, he screamed at me loudly and flew around his tree. I think he was telling me off for disturbing him when it was time to roost in his tree. He called more gently when I went indoors. :-)))
Everyone have a wonderful week. Roll on spring!!!

Well at least we know that you are eating well, GEORGE! Feed the inner man - my OH would say. And as LINDY says, the starving bit is not nice. OH has quite a,small appetite these days but boy! He doesn't like it if he misses breakfast. Lunch is not as important to him but I try to get him to have soup or a healthy snack before he gets stuck into chocolate as a substitute meal.
Tonight we are having salmon, we like it well enough but not too often. A pity since it is supposed to be good for us. Or so 'they' say.
Hope all goes well at your hospital visit, will be thinking about you.
Hi Everyone. It has been raining here since about 8,30am and didn't stop until around 4pm. The warmer weather wasn't due to arrive until the rain had gone through. I ran all the way from the hairdressers to the car. Did a big shop at Waitrose and had lunch at small organic restaurant/ shop that we like. Then stocked up with our vitamins etc at Boots and magazines at WHSmith. Naughtily called in at Tesco for some jammy doughnuts. Had one for afternoon tea :-))
The weather forecaster said this morning that the Winter storm, hitting the USA at the moment, will probably arrive here next Tues / Wednesday, but it will be calmer and only as wind and rain. We will see !!
George, So good to hear from you. Sorry about the 12 hour fast next Friday. I was so glad to see that we no longer have to fast before the cholesterol test. Pleased that you hopefully will find out what they think is the problem. Very best wishes to you.
Linda, I hope your OH is successful with his latest attempt to barricade the garden. Sounds as if you may need a brick wall, with concrete foundations. LOL She is a hunting dog, with a keen nose. There must be so much wildlife in the farm field.
Heather, We all try to eat a healthy diet, but how come our parents lived to such great ages. I am not happy with how they spray our fruit and veg., so that it stays good longer and looks fresh on the shop displays. I travel around so that I can buy from the farm shops. I had better not get on my 'soap box'. Enjoy your salmon. X
Had a supermarket sandwich when we shopped AND coffee and cake at the OTB after that! Why does naughty food taste the nicest?
The day dried up, and ended sunny and in double figures, but we saw minor floods this morning - ditches, burns and small rivers overflowing.
Good to see a long post from GEORGE; all the best for next week's appointments!
LINDA - sorry to see the escape artist is still at it; I hope the new detention measures work!
Have a good weekend, EVERYONE!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
LINDY My brother is a bit of a pain as well. He seems to think that as I live up here I don't need to know how Mum is and when I ring him it is a bit like pulling teeth.
Spring in the Highlands and long may it last.
Very large garden here Lindy which had no fencing at all so when I tried to develope a garden the rabbits defeated me.
So we went for amazingly expensive wooden fencing. Not long after Daisy arrived. Phew she is such a runner . Proved its worth today after she spotted next doors cat. She loves people children and other dogs but not a cat. Gone in a flash thinking she had gone over it but luckily not. ,I am sure we will not see ginger and tartan cat for a while.
We go away for a few nights on Monday. We did think about cancelling as the weather forecast is not good on Monday and Wednesday. It is a dog friendly hotel in Pitlochry so our four legged friend is coming too.
Dear friend had to have her boxer put to sleep on the 16th. It was her birthday which made the whole thing even worse. Friends birthday and not Chelseas.
Very sad Dibnlib...
My male cat passed away the day my breast cancer was diagnosed luckily OH coped so wells.
His sister little Lucy just a day before my 60th don't they just tug at the heart strings.
DIBNLIB - from what you have told me about that hotel, I am sure you will have a lovely time, even if you do have to stay inside a lot - I suppose it is just Benson's walks which could be a problem, but I am sure a few old towels for muddy feet will look after that!
Dibnlib. Sorry about your friend's dog. Very upsetting for her. Many years since I last visited Pitlochry. I do have some lovely memories though, but I also remember that on our last visit I had to buy some wellingtons and a mac. Enjoy yourself, just take the right clothes with you and as OG says, plenty of old towels for Benson
Good evening, all! It's time for some more Minsmere piccies:

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
