HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat Thread is here.
I posted a long list of replies at the end of last week's thread.
Saturday night in the U.S. and Sunday morning in the U.K. is the New Moon (the dark moon) -- the first one of 2016. See here for a list of monthly astronomical events for this year.
Wow, is it dreary here! So I'm inserting a colourful flower for this week's pic. :-) Everyone have a wonderful week.

Thanks. It is a lovely part of the country. Bit wet at times though...
It is sad not to be able to go up to Keswick, because of the gap in the main road, by Thirlmere. Well not without a long detour anyway.
I think I would also have chosen to go to The Danish Girl too, but Joy also sounds interesting. I will wait to see the new Star Wars on DVD, as am sure it will be very loud! My brother went with his two teenagers before Christmas and they all enjoyed it.
Chrisy, That is a beautiful photograph. I saw Star Wars in 3D. It is very noisy. I am not sure you will enjoy it as much on a DVD.
All the HW is done and case packed, ready to leave early tomorrow. I will keep in touch.
Have a nice visit Brenda. I have never seen a film in 3D, I have heard it can make a person feel rather motion-sick!
I've seen 3D films, and the best ones are the cartoons.
Have a good and safe journey, Brenda, and I hope that your puppy sitting is successful.
Evening all: So awful to have lost Alan Rickman. What a fab actor, so versatile; always a pleasure to watch. :-( Had a good day with daughter, but it's quiet in Peanut's corner here tonight.
Diane: That's an interesting blog from the Whooping Crane migration - what an amazing way to spend a day. Some great photos too.
Rosy: Do hope our OH gets over the pneumonia quickly. I've had the shot and my doc just told me about a newer one (called Prevnar 13 here) that protects against a wide variety of pneumonia bugs. (Haven't had that one yet.)
Brenda: Didn't realize vaccinations could ground pets. Have a good visit! We'll look forard to Margo's post - when she's up to it of course.
Lindybird: My sister says January and February aren't the best months what with the post-holiday slump, dark evenings, cold days and Spring still a month or three away. Maybe a full-spectrum lamp would help? Or a week on the beach in Lanzarote or somewhere similar? :-) Seem like it'll be your turn to choose the next movie.
ChrisyB: Lovely shot.
Tomorrow it's laundry, the gym, and time to prune my Cecile Brunner rose. Must also try to come up with Something Different for dinner. :-( Have a good Friday everyone.
Good morning, all. I'm at Minsmere today - it's going to be a lovely, sunny morning there but it's also going to be extremely cold! Seems like the wind is finally coming from Siberia - or at least it feels like it.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Good Morning. Cold here, too Clare. The sun is making pretty pink clouds again. Have an enjoyable day at Minsmere.
Annette - gosh, you'll miss Peanut after his long stay. Glad you had a nice visit with your daughter. Puppies are not allowed out in public until they finish their full course of jabs, in case they catch something. We are off to the Canaries as usual at the end of Feb. - We go then to deliberately cut the Winter short. If it wasn't that it's the rainy season there in January, I would go now!! When there, we meet folks who take a whole two or three months away, sometimes on a very tight budget, in order to avoid the British winter!!
I've been sorting out and trying on every coat, jacket and heavy cardigan I have. What's been interesting is how the sizing differs. At present, I'm rather heavy for me, and am I would say, a size,18 in UK sizing. But I have coats and jackets in sizes ranging from size 12-14 (which fits me very well) right up to one which is marked as being "size 20-22" !!! and is actually a snug fit!! Doesn't say much for the British sizing system, or the manufacturers!!
I have a bulging charity bag, by the way, containing two coats and a blouse, plus a dress Ill never wear again. Also found two coats which need wearing a few times, then putting in the bin as they're worn out.
Good morning all and I am now back in the land of the living for a few weeks. Feeling the benefit now of transfusion and have some colour in my cheeks. The only downside was that the treatment room was so cold. I was wrapped up like an Egyptian mummy for over 4 hours but still froze and it a good few hours before I felt warm again. See the consultant again on 27th January after another blood test on 26th so will probably find out if another transfusion is needed before Joe Brown gig which is getting ever nearer and they have assured me that I will get there no matter what happens. Didn't think I would get this far I must admit. We both focus on reaching certain milestones rather than worrying whether I will be around.
i think I have mentioned whar a very caring boss OH has. Over the past four years she has given him lots of support as she understands life is very hard for him as a carer and working full-time. He has a meeting later this month where she will discuss with him that perhaps now is the time for him to do a 4 day week. She can see as I do, how tired he gets and of course enable us to spend more time together without the pressure of always having to catch up with things here and at work. He is also going to take a week off at the end of the month which I am looking forward to.
Winter has finally arrived after weeks of rain and mild temperatures. Frosty here this morning but blue skies and sunshine which has been in short supply. Hoping now that the lawn will now have the chance to drain as it has resembled a bog for the past few weeks.
Billie has hardly been out at all, doesn't like the wet and neither does she like the cold. A few minutes outside is enough is enough for her. Made us laugh when she tried to go across the lawn, got so far before she realised she was sinking and OH had to pick her up and bring her in. She and I spend a lot of time sleeping especially as she is getting me up about 3.00 every night when she wants feeding and wanting to play. Good job OH sleeps like a log and we don't disturb him.
For only the second time ever I saw the ISS go over this morning as the skies were clear. Made me think how mind boggling it is to arrive at the precise time and also the speed at which it travels. Will try and stay awake so I can see the space walk later today.
Rose hope your OH regains full health soon.
Annette so pleased you have had some rain.
Chrisyb what a beautiful photograph. Looks so pretty but also very cold.
Diane see you are having extreme weather at the moment, do take care.
dibnlib notice to hotel guests re dogs is hilarious.
Brenda hope you had a warm journey this morning.
Lindy would you like to come over and sort out all the clothes that I will never wear again, due to the weight loss. There are a lot of brand new items still with price tag. Going to see if OH can help me sort things out whe on he has a week off.
Sorry post is a bit mundane but not a lot goes on in my life. It is just a matter of chemo and transfusions in the hooe it will prolong my life. Thank you all for your unwavering support which as always is much appreciated.
Take care all and keep safe and warm.
Love Margo x
