HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat Thread is here.
I posted a long list of replies at the end of last week's thread.
Saturday night in the U.S. and Sunday morning in the U.K. is the New Moon (the dark moon) -- the first one of 2016. See here for a list of monthly astronomical events for this year.
Wow, is it dreary here! So I'm inserting a colourful flower for this week's pic. :-) Everyone have a wonderful week.

DIBNLIB - thanks!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Good evening, all! We popped in at Minsmere this afternoon - click on this adorable chaffinch to see a few snaps:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I am enjoying reading everyone's news. I will do a bit of catch-up.
The days are mainly damp here but are just about getting noticeably longer. Just need some sunshine now!
Been looking at Clare's lovely photos, makes me think I really must go back to Leighton Moss - in better weather though.
OG Glad the Carlisle visits are going well. My mother got sore from the radiation treatment after a while, and the Macmillan Nurse recommended Calendula cream, which seemed good. She had to go to Preston but had hospital transport as I was working full time so could not take her.
When walking in the country round here people usually say Good Morning, or similar, and a friend from London once commented on it with surprise!
Speaking of walking, I am another who wears only comfy shoes! I never could manage much of a heel and certainly can't now. There are some lovely ones in a local shoe shop, so someone must be able to wear them!
Sad to hear of David Bowie's death, and only 69. I liked his early music and had LPs of Ziggy , AladdinSane and Diamond Dogs. I still listen to CDs of his Hits in the car. I never saw him live, unfortunately.
Roll on Osprey time!

Clare - I have not been to that reserve. As you like Gulls perhaps visit the Cumbria Wildlife Trust reserve on Walney Island, South Cumbria. That is is quite the opposite direction though, so not exactly convenient. Actually I have not been there either, not too fond of gulls.
Good Morning, All, after a quiet night on here.
A pinky sky outside my window: it's supposed to get much colder from tonight, so not looking forward to that!
A friend dropped in yesterday morning, and expressed surprise at our sparse furnishings. She thought Bonnie was adorable, but knew that spaniels can be described as 'lively'!!!!
Our relatives who went to Rio had a wonderful time: their son who they were visiting had a surprise Christmas present for them, of a helicopter ride above the city, which must have been breathtaking. They did say it was extremely hot there, though.

Funnily enough I never used to like gulls - they grew on me when I worked on the Port of Felixstowe. It's impossible to not get to know the local gull population when you're surrounded by them, especially in breeding season.
Good morning, all - it's a beautiful, sunny morning here (although it's much colder). I might just have to pop out with my camera and see what's about.
Good Morning Everyone. A beautiful sunny morning, but colder . Rain this evening and overnight.
Dentist and Hygienist appointment for OH shortly, so i need to wrap up before I take him there.
I hope everyone is fine.
Cool change has blown in. All the windows open to catch the breeze. It's blissful 22 C. The house should be great for sleeping tonight.
