Two ospreys photographed at the Etang du Ravoir in the Foret d'Orleans. The female is "Panchita", who winters on the North Coast of Spain.
Thanks Sue. I was just thinking about Etang du Ravoir yesterday.

Thank you Sue for the update on Panchita. Do you know whether she is a French bird, or from further north, but chose to breed in France?

Panchita's origins are unknown, as she was not ringed until the end of her first winter, at what became her established wintering site in Spain. This is an account of the event; it's why she bears a Spanish ring, Yellow 82
The view on the Ravoir blog seems to be that she was most likely born, in 2010, somewhere in the Loire colony, as it isn't feasible to ring chicks at all the nests. Orange is the colour used in mainland France.
Thank you so much Sue. I had seen a video of her being ringed, but I don't speak Spanish so lost a lot of the story. In the video they showed at least two chicks with rings Red/Orange coloured, 9.D and 9.F I could read, and possibly a 9.C, I guess they were her young.I see she was ringed in 2011. I have very disjointed records! I have found a file on translocation of ospreys to Spain which seems to suggest Pancita was hatched in 2010. I have no idea where I found that info though!
