Thank you so much Ann
LOCHTER
I visited two nests yesterday evening whilst in Aberdeenshire and one of these was LOCHTER.
There is a single chick just about to fledge as he/her was flapping on and off for the three hours I sat and watched them.
There had been two chicks but the other was knocked off the nest by a buzzard earlier in the season. This nest has a history of this the past four years.
The other nest I visited is doing well and has always been successful - it has been mentioned as a certain Blue Ringed bird from this nest appeared at Esthwaite this year.
Off home now in an hour via BALGAVIES and although I should be home in two hours I told my wife not to expect me till midnight :).
Thanks, Keith, love the photos!
Kind regards, Ann
I had a lovely visit to Lochter today, where the sole surviing chick was looking fine and healthy and exercising his/her wings plenty, my heart was in my mouth as I was sure it was going to fledge, it was almost there. I think it will go soon.
I did a wee video of its performance, I hope it stays safe wherever it flies.

Thank you Mary. Great video and so near to flying free.
Birdies LG DU update.
Mike I thought I was going to witness my first fledging, he/she is so ready to go. :-) It was so special to watch this chick helicoptering knowing how he/she beat the odds to get this stage in his life. I think a male but then I am no expert :-)
I think I'd go with male too Mary. Looks quite slim, pale chested and the legs look thinner. The latter being one of the points mentioned when sexing at ringing time.
So glad you agree with me Mike :-). I wonder if he has fledged by now.
There are Ospreys at Pink Shell Beach for anyone missing Ospreys. http://pinkshellosprey.click2stream.com/
