Thread carrying on from here
So the new year has arrived and now the countdown to the osprey season has seriously started. What will it bring? That is as always a hard question to answer but it will no doubt brings lots of ups and downs.
So what are your wishes for the 2016 osprey season?

It is a bit complicated with Maya and Blue 33.
Blue 33 is usually and April bird.
Maya is usually an early bird but was 3 weeks late last year. I had about written her off.
Loads of birds were late last year....even EJ didn't arrive until early April. Unless the winds are perverse this year I imagine Maya will return much closer to her normal time.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Agree!! ....
.Mumbles again, we could also wait till some regular activity, i.e. the unfortunate Geese, as I recall we were capturing their egg laying activity etc
also........
is it my wishful thinking, ? that was, there conversation, re another Nest going online ? or was it possibility of introducing sound at MB?
About when to start/use the new Rutland Manton Bay Nest thread (assuming we do :-)), I agree with SheilaFE and SunnyKate2 – nearer the time.
My suggestion would be to carry on using the Rutland Osprey Project for all info including any talk of Maya and Blue 33 just now and once the webcam goes live then to create and start using the new Rutland Manton Bay Nest 2016 thread for all daily observations and captures of the MB nest.
When the new MB nest thread is created I think it would be good for a brief post/explanation on the main “Rutland OP” thread advising the new thread for the MB nest has been opened and any observations/captures should be posted there thus leaving the Rutland OP thread free for updates and discussions on all the other birds and sites.
Also a minor point but just mentioning that IMO, as well as on the designated MB thread, I would however suggest continuing to post any MB update from the Rutland team on the Rutland OP thread as these updates often contain information regarding other birds and sites.
Just my thoughts :-)
I agree Karen. Very sensible. I am sure it will all work out we get nearer thee return of the ospreys.

Tiger, Thanks for the new thread. I agree about having a separate thread for Manton Bay captures and updates, etc. Perhaps links to Rutland Osprey Project's own official blogs could be posted on both the general Rutland thread and also posted on the Manton Bay thread, once it begins, to allow all Rutland Osprey fans to see each blog link asap, regardless of which thread they check most often.
Kind regards, Ann
Good morning all. I think it would be good to have a seperate thread for Manton Bay. Hope it starts early i remember seeing the ladder ends as preperations were being made for the return of the birds, and footage of those opportunist E geese (with a sad outcome) All adding to the excitement :)

It will be started in good time. Probably around 1st March.
As always we try to put all the osprey news on The Osprey News Bulletin
