I have been in sales all my life- over 22 years with one Computer company so really want a complete change if I can afford it. I would love to do something for wildlife or conservation.

How curious.  I've been in accounts for more than 20 years and I'm after the same change as you!  Have you checked out the RSPB and Suffolk Wildlife Trust websites?  The roles are mainly voluntary but you do get some paid jobs pop up now and again.  I love being a Minsmere volunteer.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning Everyone. So good to read that everyone appears to be be safe after "Frank".

Linda, Sorry that your ankle and knee are still causing you problems, but it does sound as if you haven't had much chance to rest recently.

OG, As far as I know, our loft contains quite a few boxes belonging to our son and daughter. I don't see much chance of them being removed in the near future. My headache is the garage, where most of our stuff, from downsizing, still remains. I have threatened to hire a skip. We did get rid of so much furniture etc when we moved, but there are still so many boxes and framed pictures, which were packed for storage and still remain in the same condition. We did use a storage company for a few years, but that has now been cleared, thank goodness. Well done to you for organising such a well organised clearance.

Heather, I would take the easy way with the buffet and order the food from an external source. Do you know how many people you will be catering for at the funeral ? I know you still want to show your friendship for Sheana, but it sounds as if you have given yourself quite a big task. X

Harelady, Best wishes in your house and job search.

AQ, Do take care of yourself in those continuous high temperatures.

Diane, So sorry about your storms and flooding around your property. A worrying time and hard work for you, especially as you are on your own. I do hope the weather calms down for you. X

Annette, I hope your promised storm is not so bad that it could cause flooding or damage. You don't want continuous torrential rain on your parched land.

Lynette, Thank you for your lovely New Year's card.

  • Received a Christmas card this morning, with apologies, that was posted in Australia in 2013.

Hi Clare yes I will be cheking out all of thoses sites and any more than anyone can think of. Saw a part time job this morning as a warden at Framlingham Castle which also appeals as I am a big history buff. I would have loved to have been born in the middle ages.

  • Just popping in to say I wish you all a Happy and Peaceful New Year.

OH had to go into work for a couple of hours for the last 3 days which was a bit of a shame but deadlines had to be met in the way of accounts that needed reviewing and then submission to Companies House by tonight.  Always a few clients who leave everything to the last minute.

Apart from that we have had an enjoyable time and so good to see OH relax.

Chemo starts again next Monday so that will bring me down to earth again. Will have a blood test on Sunday so will be interested to see what my HB will be.

  • Morning all:

Brenda: Two years from Australia?  Geez. They must've sent it via tall ship, but even then....

Harelady: You and my OH would get on well. He's a Major Medieval fan - should have been a history prof.  Good luck with job search...

Margo: So pleased that you've had time with your OH and that he's been able to relax.

Off to gym as it closes early today.

Hope you all have a good New Year's Eve and a happy and healthy 2016.

  • Good to read that you have had an enjoyable time, Margo. Best wishes for next week.

Lynette, that was a lovely card. Thank you for posting. I don't know how to do those things.

Diane, Sorry that you have had such a worrying time. Glad that your house kept out of the water. I do love your descriptions of where you live, though. It seems that you really live amongst nature.

Glad you liked my ramblings about Stonehenge. Apparently. my daughter's M in Law (aged ninety) used to cycle there in her youth (from a village near Andover, about eighteen miles) and picnic on the Altar stone.

Even earlier, visitors were handed a chisel, so they could take a souvenir!

Wishing everyone on here a Very Happy New Year.

  • Annette,  How unimaginative you are with carrots! Just like I am.

If I remember correctly, the Chef roasted, pickled, candied and cooked them  with charcoal. Charcoal being the new flavour for 2016, according to today's newspaper. Apparently, they've been detoxing on it in LA (where else)? It is cooked at a very high temperature and comes as a powder.  Coming to a WholeFoods near you?

  • Years come and go, but we will remain friends and never be a foe
Therefore, before the sun sets down low, I’m wishing you
A Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

  • Thanks for the Ode, Brenda!!

Good Wishes to you, and to Everyone on here, too.

I've been too busy to come on here and comment today, but hope to make up for it in 2016 (there is a poem in my head somewhere, will see if I can mine the seam of it tomorrow.......)

We are just off out to my Friends, where she & her OH are entertaining not just us, but two other couples as well:  it should be a jolly crowd. Looking forward to her superlative cooking!!

Have a lovely evening, everybody, whether you are cosy at home or out and about.  Happy New Year especially to dear AQ, who is already well ahead of us!!
