HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat Thread is here.
I hope everyone is enjoying the season.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
The twins tired out? No way. MissJ had her usual 1½ hour nap & Miss L woke soon after, both ready for lunch. It was so hot the washing was almost dry by the time I finished pegging. S-i-l came home from work early and I was able to escape. He has 2 weeks leave, so nanny duty not required but I offered to babysit one day next week while they go shopping. Expecting 44 C tomorrow.
Good Morning, All - hope that Heather is now at the Docs getting her eyebrow problem sorted.
I'm having a glitch on my tablet, so back later......
Good morning all apologies for the long absence but life is a bit daunting at the moment. The transfusion has kicked in and I feel relatively well. At the moment it is difficult to predict how often I will need them. Specialist cancer nurse phoned to see how I was and to talk about things in general. OH and I feeling rather emotional as at the back of our minds we are asking ourselves if this the last Christmas together. We both try not to think this way but it is very difficult when I am not feeling good. I get very frustrated at my inability to do all the things I used do.
Me wonderful sister came down and helped me by wrapping OH,s presents. OH will helped me with family presents but he already has so much to do that I feel guilty at loading him up with more jobs. I have managed to marzipan Christmas cake and hopefully we will be able to ice it over the weekend. OH always helps with every aspect of the cake, really need him for the icing as it is hard work getting a kilo of icing sugar into 4 egg whites together with a dash of lemon juice. Not panicking if there is not time this weekend as we very rarely start eating it intil mid-January. Trying to think about food shopping, turkey crown and cooked gammon ordered and OH will collect from the farm next week. Having a quiet Christmas Day with just the two of us. Will be good to see OH relax and of course to spend time with him. Sister and family visiting me on 26th as it is my birthday but apart from that it will just be just us.
OH had his firm's Christmas party last evening at a very highly thought of hotel in the New Forest and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was slightly merry when he got home wearing a Father Christmas musical bobble hat. Couldn't stop laughing at him he just looked so funny. I am always pleased when he gets a break away from his carer duties and relaxes for a while.
As usual Billie is her usual adorable self never moving far away from me. Still sleeping on my settee but has started to share the space better. I am not crammed into one corner, she has decided to sleep at the other end so we both have room to move. I really don't know what I would do without her now. It must have been fate when she suddenly appeared in our lives.
OG i am full of admiration at your stamina and for just getting on with life. You seem to be every bit as busy.
Heather hope your visit to the doctor went well. Hopeyou are not being left to deal with everything concerning Sheana after her passing.
AQ hope you are not melting, the heat sounds just horrendous for you.
Brenda hope your OH's hospital visit goes well, will be thinking get of you both.
Lindybird so enjoying the Advent calender, first thing I look at each morning and much healthierfully than the chocolate ones LOL.
Annette so pleased that Peanut is better and you are coping with Lightening injections.
dibnlib another person who seems to have boundless energy.
diane hope things are good for you always thinking of you.
Sorry I have not mentioned everyone but rest assured you are all in my thought as you continue to support me. Blood test on Monday and visit to Consultant on Tuesday when hope blood count has improved. Next course of chemo provisionally commencing 4th January. With a bit of luck I will get to see Joe Briwn in early February.
The weather of late has been so depressing, so much rain and so gloomy. We started off with a bit of sun but it is now cloudy again. Wish we coukd have some Coldplay and sunny weather for a change. My garden is definitely confused with the weather. Daffodils are well up, we have a couple of rose trees which still have blooms and yesterday I noticed catkins forming.
Thanks all again for the support you surround me with.
Love Margo x
AQ - oh dear! I had thought/hoped they might sleep longer after a busy morning, but pleased you got released early! That's really kind of you to offer a babysit next week - hope they appreciate it! Stay cool - somehow - and drink plenty!
I hope HEATHER got on okay with cryo-thingy!
MARGO - good to read a long post from you - pleased the transfusion has helped you. Lovely that your sister came to help with wrapping, and that you have done the marzipan. I am sure your OH will be happy to help with the icing and family wrapping, especially after being able to go to his company's festivities last evening! Margo, I have the advantage of actually feeling very well, but I do expect my stamina to decrease during radiotherapy and a few weeks after. Actually, I had a busy morning, and have admitted to feeling rather tired right now, which is why I am sitting down instead of making some soup for tomorrow! Don't tire yourself too much using the regained energy - use some of it to improve those blood levels for Monday!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Margo - Thinking of you and your family at this time. Have a fabulous Christmas x
Hello all
Thank you for your news!
If I can see the wood for the trees will be back later:-)
Didn't get cryotherapy this morning, the nurse and I had a discussion about it and she is organising a prescription for diclofenac gel which will hopefully do the job. She thought the lesion was so close to my eye plus liquid nitrogen would cause blister and burn. So we are going to try the gel!! It is only an actinic keratosis very common in older people :-(((((((
Thank you Mrs T wishing you the best of times.
Margo, I haven't been around here during the winter. I am so sorry to read you are ill. I hope you have a lovely Christmas together. Don't do to much at a time to get overtired. I will be remembering you.
Thank you Val, it has been a tough 4 years but I am still fighting and will carry on doing so for as long as I can. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Hello. OH has had most of his eyedrops altered, as his eye pressures have risen rather dramatically. As the cyst is not causing any problems, it has been decided to leave it for now. Back to the hospital in two months, unless he has any problems before that.
I had my hair cut and feel rather more respectable now. I then did a Waitrose shop and then picked up various items for Christmas. Completed the ironing when I got home. You were right though OG, I did keep texting OH to check what was happening :-))
Margo, Great to see that you managed such a long post. X
Heather, I hope the cream works on your eyebrow. Thinking of you dealing with Sheana's possessions. Take care of yourself. X
OG, You are always caring about us, so do take your own advice and rest when you feel the need. I am sure your OH and son will make sure you do, especially during your treatment. X
AQ, It must be so difficult to keep young children occupied and keep them cool in those temperatures. I hope the weather is cooler when you do your nanny day, so that the parents can go shopping.
Annette, Glad you enjoyed the time with your friend, but sorry that you feel that you have to meet elsewhere next time.
