Happy new week.
I"m sampling the Sticky Toffee Pudding with vanilla ice cream. Back in a bit to report!
Great news about Margo. Thank you Brenda. She has written me an email and sounds happier, and ready to ice her Christmas cake!
Good that your OH has passed most of his tests OK, Brenda. It must be a worrying time for you. At least he is managing a better night's sleep. Always a help when you're not "yourself". Hope they can get to the bottom of it all.
We were going Christmas shopping tomorrow, but as it was not fit to go to Golf today, my OH suggested we went today. We managed both M&S and John Lewis without too many crowds, and had a sandwich in J. Lewis, too. Bought what I wanted, including some nice goodies in the food hall, and a little Christmassy frock for Amber!
Tried to find some warm trousers for myself in M&S, but not keen on most of theirs, so came home with some red jeans type ones!! Will see how they look...... Also treated myself to new knickers, can't let Santa find me with frayed old ones when I'm togged up in my finery during the Season, LOL!!
Brenda: What a nice post to wake up to! Thank you and great to hear that Margo is feeling happier. Good also that most of your OH's systems are A-OK; hope the increased meds do the trick in the next week and that you both got some good sleep.
OG: Can't imagine why your leg was complaining, given all the bustling about you've been doing! What kind of cakes did you say? Should Diane and I plan a trip to try them out?
Lindybird: Just keep your new knickers away from Bonnie.
Lightning back to normal, but seems hungrier than usual since we've taken her 24/7 supply of dry food away (due to diabetes). Got diabetic wet food from vet and she seems to like that. Peanut busy chomping on lettuce as I type; his house needs cleaning so that's on the To Do list for today or tomorrow.
Linda, I know you have had continuous rain and your garden is under water, but I think that is the first time that I have heard you say that your OH had to cancel his golf round, because of the wet weather. Sounds as if you had a fruitful day's shopping though. I am looking for a dress for Christmas, but no luck so far. We have all been invited to daughter's boyfriends parents for an evening meal on the 27th. This will be the first time we will meet them.
Annette, I am so pleased to hear that Lightning is back to normal. You must be relieved. It will take some time before she gets used to not having her 24/7 supply of dried food. Is Peanut due to return home this week ?
Just had three Chinook helicopters fly very low over the house. I could clearly see the crew's faces. They seem to be very active lately.
Hello All - Pouring with rain all day so snow mostly gone now, just a bit left on the lawn and it is much warmer , thank goodness. I did ironing, etc., in the morning and went out shopping in afternoon, then came home and spoke to my sister on the phone for about one and a half hours!
Margo - so glad that you had good results today, and you are feeling more cheerful.
Brenda - Both you and your OH must be relieved that his tests went well, hope he will continue to improve.
Annette Lovely to hear that Lightening is back to normal.
Good evening – need to be brief, but a few replies.
Heather – pleased Brother eventually arrived – enjoy your time together. I see you were going to Ardersier for Connage cheese – I found it overcrowded with French cheese this year when we went for our usual Scottish cheeses!
Brenda – pleased OH had a better night – I hope that continues. Thanks for news of Margo. Meeting the “in laws” at Christmas – sounds interesting! Love to see and hear Chinooks like that, but always ask myself what keeps that weight up there!
Linda – sounds like a productive shopping trip – I am guessing Cheadle Royal!
Annette – finally decided on baking Cherry Cake and boiling fruit to mix Canada Cake tomorrow. Also made a huge pan of Spiced Braised Red Cabbage to freeze for winter warmers – just for two of us as J won’t eat it! I guess you have to obey vet guidelines for food quantities for Lightning, but difficult if she seems to be hungry! Glad she is back to normal and Peanut is his usual self!
Rita – pleased to hear snow has washed away, but sorry it was so rainy (as was here).
Joiner worked so hard today – had to send for help manoeuvring the parts of the shower enclosure, and still didn’t leave till 6:15. There will still be a few bits and pieces to complete after the shower itself is installed – one is the toilet roll holder as the wrong one was ordered! Annette – can’t even contemplate when the room will be ready for photos, as OH will be painting it himself, and the ceiling alone will need three coats – then there is a carpet to buy, and blind for the window, and new laundry bins … . So still a work in progress.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Brenda - our rain stopped eventually, but the golf course is virtually unplayable due to the remaining water laying on the land. (Incidentally, if the HS2 train project goes ahead, it'll cut through the golf course - a source of amusement to the older players, apparently, as they think it will finally happen long after they are playing a Heavenly game in the clouds!)
OG - Hope your knee is better today. You do seem to be doing a lot - take care of yourself.
Rita - Does your sister live in another part of the country? It's easy to talk for ages when you have a lot to catch up on!
Thanks LINDA - the leg has been a lot more useful today! No more shuffling, but quite painful walking. Might have to mention it to GP tomorrow - don't know if I have said I am going for a general chat, medication review and to ask a few questions.
OG - you posted whilst I was writing. Yes, went to Cheadle. It's nice not to need to go to a city for serious shopping expeditions these days. It was busy, but not unpleasant today. I may return on my own in a week or so, to get some more bits & bobs.
Done it again! Hope your Doc has time to discuss your various questions. We have to book a double appointment here if we have more than one ailment to mention!
